as said in other posts in this thread it's just an added measure to make sure a newly flashed rom 'settles' into the device properly, sometimes it can properly install on the first shot, sometimes it takes a few more tries -- kinda like pregnancy.... lol

and strangely just like pregnancy you cant really tell if there are defects until the cats out of the bag lol. (ie further down the road from the initial flash.)
