Yes there is a benefit. During your flash the old partition is only removed and then overwritten with the new NBH data whilst preparing for the phones first boot-up. So after you flash and HR it reformats the partition completely blanking out any old data that may still be left in flash.

If anyone is interested this is how I flash, and yes I have tried the same ROM with and without a HR:
Enter the BL and begin the flash... While it is flashing, remove the battery... Dont worry the USB will power it. I do that so the phone never starts again on the reset. Then I put the battery back in and power up using the HR combo... Then it HR and install WM...
