Hard Reset immediately after flashing?

Back from my Kaiser days, I recall having virtually every chef (paticularly the "Guru" chefs like Faria) saying that a hard reset was essential after a new ROM was flashed. I've seen a little mention here of the same thing, but am curious if that's a caveat with the CDMA phones as well, or WM phones in general. Any thoughts?

Re: Hard Reset immediately after flashing?

It is not a bad thing to do and has become common practice to do so after every flash, but the necessity of it is questionable...I used to hard reset after flash but now do not and have noticed no true difference in performance or stability (but if you have either of those issues, it will not hurt to hard reset)

Re: Hard Reset immediately after flashing?

I always do a hard reset after a flash. Phone seems to run much better after.

Re: Hard Reset immediately after flashing?

if i'm pressed for time or just overly excited to dig into a new rom/kitchen build i usually skip it.. but i don get better performance overall when i take the extra time to HR...

Re: Hard Reset immediately after flashing?

so should u let the new rom load and go through the customization and then do it? U have to have the phone powered off to do a hard reset don't u? Since it boots up after a flash I'm guessing you would have to wait unless you take the battery out right? What's the best way to do it?

Re: Hard Reset immediately after flashing?

I don't understand why this is recommended. I'm not a Windows Mobile architecture expert, but it seems that flashing the ROM initiates a hard reset.

Maybe this is something that was necessary for certain older phones and some people still recommend it?

Does anyone know for sure whether there is a benefit to a hard reset after a flash on the Touch Pro?
