is this full root or just to allow stuff like shootme and wifi tether?

Full root!! I believe tether is included in it, but this results in complete root.

wow, nice.. it was so easy compared to other methods i've seen at least from afar. another question though... do you know if the upcoming ota update will close unrevoked root?

The word on the street is that OTA updates could kill root (I think froyo....IF it comes out would not be OTA but a download) so when/if froyo or another OTA comes out I would hold back and let one of the rooting/cooking geniuses cook-up a safe root version for us!!

P.S. When you say 'was', does that mean you used the root tool? If so, please....how did it go (for others thinking of doing it).

yep, it was easy. finally able to use the shootme app on the incred. and i'm guessing the tethering app too when i need it

I got stuck for a hot sec, but figured out what i was doing wrong soon after.

All i did was download the root package from the unrevoked site. Made sure i was in debug mode. Opened the html page in the zip file that had instructions on how to install drivers to the phone. Downloaded and installed the drivers. Ran the exe from the main root package. After that it did its thing and I was rooted in a matter of minutes. Thanks

ok, can someone please help me out here...I read the update on the first post. I did the adk driver update, plugged usb, ran the 3.1 everything goes through the process, finally says "loading flash recovery, do not touch phone" screen goes to normal like I never did anything from the jump. Please help, what am I doing wrong...?!!

Ok, just did the driver update again. ran evo3, this time it actually said 2.5.0.1 recovery and evo3 said waiting on phone. I hit the center button to reboot. Still nothing happening. what am I doin wrong...

just tried again, this time evo 3 finished n says done. superuser permissions is on phone now. loaded wireless tether, running!

Glad you got it charleskincade!! Sounds like it just took persistance on your part, I have seen some people switching USB inputs, or even cables to get it to work, but most people posting issues tend to get root eventually. It is certainly a lot better hearing stories like yours than only a couple weeks ago hearing people trying for days to get root!!

I just updated the forst post with a site that has tutorials on rooting, deleting bloatware (City ID), adding tethering, backing up.......everything I can think of including undoing root ( I did promise mbern1008 I would post when I coud the answer to that)!!!

I would suggest taking a look even if you already have root, it is very informative and seems very well put together!!!
