Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.3.3 Custom ROM v5.0 | GingerBread 4.12.651.1 | *Updated 4/15/11*
Maybe stupid question so sorry, is there anyway to pull the kernel out of your 5.0? I currently have 2.6.32.27-netarchy-toadmod-4.3.1-cfs-nohavs-nosbc and I like this ROM along with SetCPU. Is there anyway to keep my kernel and upgrade the ROM?

Let's say for instance that it was compatible. How would I replace the kernel? With that mess up the zipalign?

Don't see how it would effect the zipalign.

hmm unzipped latest to sd card. Put in file called ROM. Using ADOA file manager I open boot.img to ROM Manager. ROM Manager asks the normal stuff, but when it reboots its like the old rom is there. Not sure why this isnt working right.

Why are you opening a flashable zip and not just flashing the zip as is? Maybe ROM Manager allows different options but the standard is wipe, flash the zip....at least that's how I've done it the last 642 times My GUESS is you are trying to swap the boot.img to avoid wiping? Considering the latest is Gingerbread and you are most likely coming from Froyo I dont see any other install method working other than wipe/flash. I could be WAY off base with my guess, I know. |

I've always used ROM Manager and never had a problem till now. This latest ROM from OMJ i snot in the download directory of ROM Manager so I am doing it manually. I must not ne saving it to the right spot to erase the old ROM.
Update...Figured it our duh...I was unzipping the files and I didnt...silly me... Last edited by b4u2; 04-18-2011 at 07:48 PM. |
