The flash went fine, but at first glance it seems like a step back as far as productivity. A few comment/questions:

Totally agree with Groove. It takes time to adjust to 6.5. You will not like it in the beginning because it's a big change. The good news is Groove's rom is very stable and a good one to become accustomed to 6.5.
Here is another thread to look at that gives a little perspective on 6.1 vs. 6.5. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=67769&page=2 check out Post 18, there are a couple tips on how to install/set up titanium weather, resolve flashing issues in 6.5, and adv/disadvantages of 6.1/6.5. My opinion of course but may be helpful. although i would revise it now to say battery life is pretty much equal.. edit. sorry for the thread jack. lets get back to regularly scheduled broadcasting Last edited by Riley; 05-28-2009 at 08:22 PM. |

I was able to get around Opera by re-installing it. Was able to get into Google Maps w/ Latitude by installing it twice. Strange though how both builds did the same thing... Oh well everything else is great thanks!

Here's what I suggest. Do the clear storage (settings>system>clear storage). Then allow it to only boot to the first tap here screen. Then flash to the ship rom linked to in the first post. Then let it boot to the first tap here screen again. Then flash grooveROM. Once you've got it up and running, make sure to flash back to stock every few upgrades. That's what I do, and I haven't had any issues (that I didn't cause in the kitchen) for months. If my suggestion doesn't work, do the whole process again. Some have had to do it a few times to clear out the gunk (notable chefs too, mind you). EDIT: Oh one other thing -- are you by any chance using some soft of backup software that may be restoring old registry entries? Last edited by indagroove; 05-28-2009 at 09:09 PM. |

hey groove,
check your pm. also..the fix you posted about the gibberish in the dialer worked. question for you though. like the link said you have to install dotfred task manager or equivalent...right now there are two task managers in the rom, neither of which allow you to "end a process" what is the purpose of both? is there a difference between the two? is there a downside to cooking the dotfred task manager in the rom rather than these two or just personal preference. Thanks for all of you hard work. *edit* for the gibberish fix above you also have to have total commander because file explorer won't let you copy those files from the fix over to the windows directory.

The only back up software I am using is MS MyPhone now... But I doubt that is causing the issue. On your next upgrade I'll do the clear storage style, just about to leave now and not enough to try that method! Thanks a ton though! |

Re: [052809] grooveROM 5 - CE OS 5.2.21725 (Build 21725.5.0.2) [ROM & Kitchen]
so what dialer are you using inda? the htc or the WM?
The only thing that sucks for the WM (IMO) is that when you are not on the lock screen, it just has a pop up box w/ the name and stuff and 2 soft key's to answer/ignore...kinda ugly lol. the S2A is soo nice, since it has 3 buttons, answer, ignore, and mute. I really do like the WM lock screen one though, except it has only 2 fuctions, answer or ignore (which is basically like the mute), and no real ignore fuction like the S2A. (just summarizing all this b/c I want to make sure what I understand actually is right lol). |
