The general foolishness associated with the eye-candy and bloat being introduced into Windows Mobile 6.5 & 6.5.1 is one of the biggest reasons I stick with 6.1 and anticipate a move to Android, unless things improve on the Windows Mobile front.

sure I agree that 6.1 remains more complete and stable than the latest 6.5.1 roms but that is to be expected. 6.1 has been more or less final for a while. The thing that's nice about WM/MS is we have the ability to actually test out the new beta sys and gain a perspective of what coming down the pike in the future. Of course it also allows us to determine if we like or dislike their direction and make decisions accordingly on what device we get next. You don't get to do this with the i-phone, webos or android at the moment. In fact, there's a discussion going on in another forum here about Google sending out C & D letters to a chef for including apps in his modified G1 roms so it appears that MS and HTC are much more lenient to communities like PPCG and XDA. It could be much different if they didn't allow the modding community to contine as it has.

Well said, Riley. Can you imagine how much spare time we would all have, if we couldn't mess around with our "devices".

The thing I like about this whole flashing thing is that when you have major updates its almost like having a new phone to play with. It's helps you when you see things comes out like the HTC Leo.

I'm just never satisfied and always open to improving my phone to better meet my needs.

agreed, it's just nice to have the option to experiment and try new things. I personally didn't like the latest sys with the buttons on the bottom, but I also swore I would never use touchflo again and well..... 2.1 just works. now I find myself flashing 23414 as well and dont mind the changes. I guess it just comes down to personal preference and whether you have the time to do this stuff.

It takes a little getting used to having the bar at the bottom. One of the things it does is make everything designed for 6.1/6.5 a little off as far as where it loads on the screen. A perfect example is M3D 2.1. It's not used to having the bar at the bottom so it thinks it's 6.5 and is off a few pixelx; that bug is what needs to be fixed and should be very easy IMO.

Re: [ 9-28 ][ v3 ][ 6.5.1 / 6.5 / 6.1 ] Calkulin's Visual HTC Kitchen & ROMs

Going back a couple of weeks...

I'm running the 21054 (6.1) from 9/19. It's been working great & I like the changes. Yesterday I went to do a soft reset with ShutXP and the phone did a hard reset instead. Today, the battery ran down to the point where it prompted me to charge it. I could not get to it right away and without any action by me, the phone did a hard reset!
Has anyone seen this before with these or any other ROMS?

Thanks

I know you have probably heard this before but just to make sure, did you flash to shipped first and then to the new rom?

I ran into that a ton cause i heard that with the new VK we didnt have too. After flashing back to shipped and then to the new rom, i havent had this issue.

I'm not sure I did this time around. I'll do it again to be sure. Thanks!

Maybe I'll use that as an excuse to try the newer builds.
