Re: SERO Premium

i'm planning on buying the phone on contract and not having them activate it and just doing it myself or going to a sprint store. Not sure if they will be able to do it but i'm going to try, when i talked to bestbuy it sounded like they would be able to do it. Radioshack doesn't do mail in rebates if you buy it there.

Mail in rebates only apply if you are up for your 2 years, not 12.

3rd parties cannot access your account. They would have to call Sprint. Ask them to change your plan. Give Sprint the ESN. Do a paper contract. Then charge you the $199.99. Hard to find a rep that will do that. Hence why they say no 3rd party dealers will help you with SERO.

You wont get it done at bestbuy or any 3rd party retail.. your choices are.. online, telesales. or corp store....

"customers on current SERO plans receiving discounts above and beyond the already discounted SERO rate will lose those discounts when moving to a SERO premium plan"
Guess that means I would lose my unlimited incoming calls for $0

Re: Sero Premium and Best Buy

Quick question for all you people making plans to buy your device at Radio Shack and Bestbuy: have you been to a Sprint store lately in regards to your SERO line?

If you go and ask to have your account serviced or phone upgraded, you might be surprised if they refer you to telesales because they have very limited authorization for SERO lines. This has happened to me twice in the last month or so. Assuming this is part of their recent SERO changes (like no more TOL on SERO), how does one expect a 3rd party retailer to activate a phone on your account when Sprint stores can't do it?

I think it's worth calling ahead to just mention the word "SERO" - my guess is that the friendly Radio Shack employee will suggest you kindly stay away because he can't help you.

With that said, I'm eagerly hoping for for word on the first SERO line to go SERO Premium and then back to SERO.

Well I know when I go I have never mentioned "SERO" to the best buy employees. I just always play dumb and say a friend set me up with the account so I am not sure what type it is. They usually ended up calling Sprint and Sprint always authorized the upgrade. Will it be different now? Quite likely, but it is possible it may go through. I think some of it all depends on the Sprint associate BB gets.

I have even attached a screen grab proving it:

If it ever becomes available for me to add a newer android phone for a few bucks extra a month, I would jump all over that. But for now, even the EVO isnt cool enough for me to drop such a cheap plan.
How did you"submit" your request for a corporate discount?

Well, poop. None of those options really work for me. (I'm leaving for Hawaii on Sat. AM, and would love to have my new Evo by then. None of the local Sprint stores have the Evo in stock, but all the local Radio Shacks do.)

So, that $100 rebate is, in essence, part of the subsidy you get for signing up for a longer contract. Dang. I was hoping that the phone would be $375 when signing up for a 12-month contract, but it sounds like it'll be $475, huh? Ouch.

How's this sound for a plan?

Bright and early tomorrow, I contact Sprint. Call them, or go to the Sprint store. I ask them to convert my current SERO plan to Premium SERO with the Evo tax. Then, I go to Radio Shack and buy an Evo. I won't ask them to sign me up for a new contract, but if they insist on doing something, they could "extend" my current contract by 12 months. (Which by then, should be "Evo legal".) Finally, I go back to the Sprint store and make sure the phone is indeed "on" my account.

Re: SERO Premium

I talked with the guy at the local Sprint store (owned by sprint) today and he said as far as he knows he still will be unable to change me to premium. However, I can call in and have it changed and then he'd be more than happy to upgrade my device.

Anyone else run into anything like this?

Yeah that's a great way to get customers to upgrade to the New Sero Premium, tell them their discounts will no longer apply. No Thanks, I'll keep my 22% Off for now.
