My contract automatically renews every 2 years. You have 30 days from the date of renewel to make changes or cancel for free. I believe it's all detailed in your contract.

I think this is pretty standard policy. My parent's old Verizon phones did the same thing.

I agree, call Sprint and explain that you wanted to make changes to your plan. You should be well within your 30 day window.
