Any ideas? Same settings and startup file.
Well the RIL was slightly upgraded in 7.1 and it supposedly fixed a bug where the RIL would spam the system with incoming call alerts, sometimes so frequently it would cause issues. Perhaps there's a side effect of the "fix". I'll have to try to get in contact with the dev of the RIL...

You can grab the RIL from 7.0 and put it in 7.1... I hate regressions!

Hi, sorry I'm not that technical. What's a RIL and where can I find it?
Thanks.

/system/lib. I guess I can release another 7.1 version, it's just so odd that some people are having such severe issues with calls, while others have no problems whatsoever. I hate pulling something on a hunch. I'd like something more definitive.

Thanks for the guide here, very straight forward and fast.

If it wasn't for the battery life issues I would run this all the time.

Re: Simple Guide, Android on SD card! 4 Easy Steps (15 min): TP2 DL links (FRX07.1)

Battery save:

Much of the same as performance increase:
  • DL Advanced Task Killer Froyo from market & kill all running apps. (If you have 20 lights on in the house & TV & radion, etc., you'll use more juice!)
  • Delete any active widgets from your 3 home screens (weather, news, etc..)
  • Set your apps not to auto update in settings, so a bunch of other tasks & network access isn't going on at the same time your trying to play... settings, Accounts & sync, background data (UNCHECK IT).
  • Uncheck roaming in settings:
  • Also, the constant adds & data connection can eat battery life: Just use Droidwall from market to not let apps go on the internet all the time, (or turn off data) #282
  • Stop all the background apps & stuff from starting up in the first place... Explained in arrrghhh's post below & either Droidwall or advanced taskkiller will let you do that also.
  • arrrghhhh later started this great thread with some additional tips: [[Speed Improvements]] Brainstorming & Testing Thread!!

If you're looking in WinMo you won't find it .

That reference is to a location in Android... system.ext2 gets mounted as /system in Android.

So pull an old RIL, and bind mount it in /system/lib. Some have reported success, maybe it'll help you?

Grab this attached file. Unzip it. Put it at the root of your SD card - if you want it in a folder, modify the command below:
Code:
mount --bind /sdcard/libhtcgeneric-ril.so /system/lib/libhtcgeneric-ril.so
Put that in the CustomCommands section near the bottom of the froyo.user.conf file (which is in the conf folder). Make sure it's on its own line, between the { }.
Attached Files
File Type: zip libhtcgeneric-ril.zip (35.1 KB, 7 views) Click for barcode!

Re: Simple Guide, Android on SD card! 4 Easy Steps (15 min): TP2 DL links (FRX07.1)

this build is hardly stable.

It royally screwed both my battery charging (wouldn't recharge the phone until like 4 or 5 soft resets and a day) and my radio in windows mobile.

Don't try to boot into this in gsm mode or you'll experience the same. I would recommend removing the options for WCDMA in the build in order to make the gsm radio function properly.

what winmo rom do you use? Do you ever use the gsm sim card instead of the cdma radio?
