I have a GSM SIM in, but it's not active - so if I did switch to it, I wouldn't be able to get service - but I've heard of several others that do what you're doing (use a CDMA RHOD as GSM) and don't have any problems now. They used to have issues where the GSM radio would just "shut down" when the panel was turned off and the phone was put to sleep - but AFAIK that is resolved. I haven't heard of any other issues, and certainly not the ones you describe.

For ROM, I'm on EnergyROM - Titanium. Just something small that can get me into Android quickly when I don't use Gen.Y .

Re: Simple Guide, Android on SD card! 4 Easy Steps (15 min): TP2 DL links (FRX07.1)

This XDAndroid download runs entirely off your external micro SD chip. NOTHING will affect your Windows side (including the radio).

The odds of getting hit by a plane are better, but on the off chance it happened, it takes me 5 min to load a newer radio anyway. I've allowed my signature to show, click on wiki & look under "R" for how to flash the lastest / newest radio.

If you have put \storage card\haret.exe in your \windows\startup directory, you shouldn't have, rather use geny dual boot cab on 1st post in auto mode. If any issues, simply pop your SD chip out & reboot.

Don't think anyone ever confirmed an issue as such. We have some people that have issues figuring out how to unzip a file even, but that's a user error, not a build problem, also it's very common for such a small device to both mechanically & electronically fail.... often due to water & impact damage - dropping.

I'm not suggesting anyone is BS'ing here... rather that some may be having issues with their phone in general... (feel for ya man, too bad)

Give this a shot, it's great!

WOW!

I can't believe how easy you made this, thanks for all your tips and all the hard work on the part of those who ported Android to the TP2. Loving the interface and infrastructure wifi for my HP Touchpad!

Re: Simple Guide, Android on SD card! 4 Easy Steps (15 min): TP2 DL links (FRX07.1)

Ok I had to travel last week and when I would powerdown my phone, when getting on the plane, I saw that it didn't powerdown, but rebooted instead. I then let it boot windows, and did a power down there.

How can I get the powerdown in android to actually powerdown, and not reboot?

thanks,
dave

I also got the TouchPad and TP2.

Are you using the build-in Wifi hotspot app?

Are you experiencing sometimes TouchPad won't detect until you switch Security to Off or to WPA2?

Also are you able to Turn Off the Hotspot on TP2 after using it?

Re: Simple Guide, Android on SD card! 4 Easy Steps (15 min): TP2 DL links (FRX07.1)

First, thanks to all that made android on tp2 possible. Second, it took me a minute to realize arrrrgh was a username, and not people just arrrrgh'ing out of frustration. Lol

I got mine working after a few reboots on sprint, but would freeze often just trying to configure settings. What is the highest I can overclock at? I was using winmospeed on the winmo side at 768 without any problems before disabling it to boot frx071.

Also, when receiving txt msgs in frx071 will they not show up again if I reboot back to winmo?

Heh...

Most seem to max out on OC in Android around 748. Some have gone higher... I find 710 is very stable, so I don't go above that.

Text messages are only sent once. So if the phone receives them, they are not sent again... This is why I like Google Voice. I also don't use WinMo anymore, so it doesn't really matter to me.

Re: Simple Guide, Android on SD card! 4 Easy Steps (15 min): TP2 DL links (FRX07.1)

I'm giving my son my TP2 with Android on it, but want to basically wipe the device. I have the power saving scripts up and configured, so I'd like to keep all that. What is the easiest way to wipe all the data, apps, contacts, etc, but keep the android install (system) in tact?

Can I do this?

thanks
dave
