Re: HTC's 2010 Lineup

gotta be honest..... besides the Bravo (yaay Android and Snapdragon!!) its pure crap.... i mean, they went from s#itty 528 mhz to a slightly less s#itty qualcomm 600 mhz??? I bet it wont be noticible compared to the Droid, 3GS, and similar devices running A1 Cortex CPU's

And the Diamond2's successor will run a HVGA screen?? Isnt that a downgrade to a WVGA??

Hope they kick a$$ with HTC Sense but on the other hand, hope the hardware can support it...

Yea, right? I was not at all impressed with anything on that list. Not at the level I've been seeing HTC move towards with the Hero, TP2, HD2, etc... But I know that's not a full line up by any means.

Re: HTC's 2010 Lineup

every single phone has a tmobile stamp on it...
EVERY SINGLE DEVICE
and isn't it interesting that the successor to the hero wasn't fully announced...let's just wait for MWC next month =) because that is when we all get a bit closer with regards of what htc has to offer
I wish arlen had some more info on this though

What's going on with CDMA next year sigh... As Noir said above, everything is Tmobile stamped... Feels like we're getting all the left overs..

Re: HTC's 2010 Lineup

I'm thinking I might get an HD2 on T-Mobile until mid next year when the WM7 phones come out. At least this way I'll be able to get the leaks.

If you read the article about the CEO of HTC, it says that other manufacturers have dropped Winmo... but HTC is sticking with them (but they aren't happy with Microsoft).

Translation: HTC is really the only major manufacturer Microsoft has left... and it's not a really enthusiastic manufacturer.

Of course, Winmo will never go away since the giant Microsoft is behind it. But in reality, the writing is on the wall, the train has left the station... or whatever cliche you want to insert. Even in Winmo7 is a hit... by the time it comes out, the game might be over already.

Just as an example look at the MP3 market. For the longest time Microsoft was really the major player... then along came the iPod and it literally changed in 6 months. Microsoft responded with the Zune... a flop. Then they came out with the next generation Zune. Overall a really decent device. Unfortunately the game was already over.

The only manufacturer that has dropped windows mobile is Motorola. In fact, all others Samsung, LG, HP, Ericsson, etc. will continue providing winmo phones. The only one of those who can be really considered iffy is Samsung, who plans to move to 50% android, 50% winmobo in the next 2 years, and decrease that down to 20%. However, Samsung is in the process of developing its own mobile operating system called BADA (ocean in korean) to directly compete with Android.

So really, I wouldn't say Microsoft is out. Every major brand has its own mobile operating system coming into play (Nokia has symbian for example). And also, we know google is in the process of building its own google phone and most likely keeping the most current and up to date android platform for itself. Sooner or later companies are going to be jaded by Google.

Your statement that HTC is the only manufacturer left is partially true. This is because HTC and Microsoft go hand in hand. They have a 13 year partnership and HTC dominates 90% of the Microsoft Mobile platform offerings, so in a sense, yes, it is the main provider, but no, it's not the only provider. Personally, I'd still like to see the 2nd half roadmap for 2010 before I write off windows mobile, afterall, when it comes to enterprise and business, the best selling smartphone on the market is the Touch Pro 2, and that's a windows mobile phone.

To be technically correct, Motorola hasn't dropped Windows Mobile either. They said they would skip Windows Mobile 6.5, but they will be making devices that run Windows Mobile 7.

Re: HTC's 2010 Lineup

Thanks for the clarification. Technically there are other phone manufacturers that use Winmo.

But realistically, how many of them besides HTC really have models that are widely in distribution?

Edit: maybe the Omnia qualifies but still not a widely known outside of Winmo circles.
