Re: HTC's 2010 Lineup

I read that this leak is not complete...

#1: It is only for the first half of 2010. With WM 7 due out late in 2010, it doesn't have any of the exciting WM 7 devices due out next year.

#2: This was only a presentation for potential T-Mobile devices, and not a road map of everything HTC will be releasing.

Well, at least that is what I read about it someplace...

Me- I actually want a Touch Pro 2 replacement. Give me a horizontal sliding qwerty, tilting screen, thinner than my current Touch Pro 2, better camera (with flash), more RAM, bigger ROM, better CPU, FM transmitter so I can stream music to any old car stereo, and HDTV output (via dongle cable, obviously). Basically a Touch Pro 3 that is like a Touch Pro 2 on steroids. Or something like a Touch HD2 with a horizontal sliding qwerty and tilting screen.

Hopefully we see something like that in 2010...

Re: HTC's 2010 Lineup

I dont care if it has a keyboard or not, i just want a phone with a tegra or snapdragon chip, a screen at least 3.5" WVGA capacitive (OLED preferrably) and WM7. I guess if Microsoft and HTC fail to deliver me a device like that this year, im going to get that Bravo.

smartest post of the thread! WHY in the heck everyone tossing wm on the wasteside when one company only leaks part of the phones on their largely T MOBILE partnership?

how many windows mobile devices do we see really on t mo? Not many...
beyond that HTC is notorious for releasing the big changes in all that is cell phone NEXT month. And that is what I'm waiting for. At least we have a much more accurate lineup

I agree with the previous posters. Winmo is really dying. Now it won't go completely away simply because Microsoft is behind it.

But it is no secret that HTC and other handset makers really don't like WinMo anymore... It's sad because many of us have spent so much time on Winmo, but Microsoft has really has so many misteps with their Mobile OS that it might be too late to recover.
Where are you getting your information that it's no secret that HTC doesn't like winmo? Last I checked, there were articles and announcements by HTC stating they treasure and value their partnership with Microsoft/Winmo and will continue to develop for them. That's why the Touch HD2 is winmo. Not to mention the TP2 is the best selling business phone outside of the Iphone 3GS.

I don't get why people are writing winmo off. Just last night I was sitting around the dinner table with a bunch of friends and playing around with our phones (TP, Droid, Iphone 3GS, pre) and even though I'm sporting a Winmo 6.1 TP, I could do quite a bit of the same things the other phones could. Granted I don't have a compass, or turn by turn GPS for free, but everyone was just as impressed that my old TP could do a lot of the same things and we haven't even begun to talk about winmo 7.

Re: HTC's 2010 Lineup

or as per usual 3
like they do every year =/ I expect htc to keep scoring well now that samsung is close on the heels of a fantastic smart phone (samsung omnia II being a great pocket pc with the ability to run touchflo 3d 2.5 on a faster processor makes it definitely the envy right now)

Well I'm also taking into account of the well publicized comments by the CEO of HTC not being happy with WinMo recently. When the CEO actually comes out and makes PUBLIC statements like that, something is not right.

if you're referring to the comments made by Peter Chou with Forbes Magazine, here's a portion of the article.

Quote:
HTC may be updating its brand, but it's sticking by its longtime partner, Microsoft ( MSFT - news - people ). Though other handset makers such as Motorola have dropped Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system in favor of Android, Chou says HTC has no plans to follow. That doesn't mean he's not frustrated with the software. "Windows Mobile innovation has been a little slow and interest in Windows Mobile phones has been declining," he admits.
HTC's solution is the HD2, a wafer-thin handset that combines a 4.3-inch touchscreen with a high-end processor for snappy downloads and fast Web browsing. The phone, which was unveiled earlier this month, runs the latest version of Windows Mobile (6.5) as well as some flashy HTC software. "We're working hard on these kinds of products to get excitement about Windows Mobile back," says Chou.
Gadget fans have been clamoring for an Android version of the HD2, but Chou hints that the handset will stay as is. "Technically, we could make the HD2 an Android phone, but I have to take care of Windows Mobile," says Chou.
I don't think his comments were anything really negative towards windows mobile or criticism. In fact, he's merely stating the perceptions that we all pretty much have. But his comments after the fact are more telling. Especially when Chou goes on to point out 13 years of development partnership (later on in the article), and the fact that we have not begun to talk about winmo 7.

Re: HTC's 2010 Lineup

I guess what I'm saying is:

Given the strong words of partnership with Microsoft by the CEO and President of HTC, and the fact that there's nothing in the 2010 roadmap for the second half, coupled with Windows Mobile 7 coming out, I wouldn't count out WinMo Phones, particularly from HTC.
