Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800) - PRE-ALPHA (not yet usable)

Thanks! That cleared some stuff up.

Has anyone successfully installed the Last.fm app?

One of the things I want to play with more than anything in Android is Google Goggles. It's also very unstable, but I guess that's to be expected. I've tried installing Last.fm a handful of times and it's rebooted my phone every single time.

This is exciting stuff though. Is there any chance that we'll ever see an actual native rom for non-android devices though? This solution doesn't seem practical if we can't boot with more than 40 megabytes of free ram.

Oh, and two more newbie questions:

Firstly, is there a way to better control the backlight on the phone within android? I hate that the power button can't turn the screen off/on without rebooting the unit (apparently). And secondly.. aw I forget what secondly was. Guess that's all for now!

there's a bug (mentioned in this thread) that says that if you have auto-backlight control enabled in winmo, it's gonna be goofed in haret. disable auto-backlight, then you can control backlight in android

You know, that makes me wonder how much of the Android "Bugs" we are running into are due to conflicts with WinMo. Who really knows what other bugs are being caused by WinMo setting a state for pretty much anything else?

Any word on a new kernel? The 1-10 update makes calling/data not work. For a little while it will give me some error when ever I try to make a call. (I do the calling *2 while booting android) and data doesn't seem to work at all.

Makkonen, what rom are you using? If you think it's worth the trouble, I might flash the same one to eliminate some variables in testing.
Everyone will have this. Its another bug in android in that if you started android with the charger plugged in you would be able to charge the phone in android but if you had the phone unplugged and then booted android it would not allow you to charge the phone in android. So they made it where the phone thinks its constantly charging so you can charge the phone without first plugging it in.

I believe on the GSM side they've got the driver for the camera, but when they load it everything goes to hell. Unresolvable (so far) kernel panics or something.. That's just from memory, so I might be wrong about it.

I think there's a whole lot of ugly stuff getting passed from Windows Mobile... but there's also a whole lot of stuff that needs to be passed from Windows Mobile in order for it to work at all at this point. Basically, it is what it is. At some point, we'll be able to replace WinMo with Android completely, and initialize everything on our own, but until then, WinMo is both a blessing and a curse.

Is anyone else having this problem? The 1-10 kernel didn't have any data/radio trouble for me. My latest working kernel doesn't have a working touchscreen, or I'd upload it.

I get data and radio with the 1-10, although the radio tends to cut in and out on calls.

The 1/10 kernel was working fine for me for data/radio - but I loaded the new XDandroid build from today and now I can't get radio/data at all

You know I've tried quite a few times now to get that app downloaded on to my handset. Each time it'll go about halfway then either lock up the handset, or crash it all together and power cycle it. Haven't had that issue with other apps...weird.

...Upon a few more tries looks like I was finally able to download it... Weird.
