Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition
Another n00b here :$ I'm trying to build a diamond rom to play with for a few days but I'm getting stuck at the black screen that shows my radio version. Could it be that I'm still running the stock Alltel radio version - 1.03.13F - ? Anyone have a cooked diamond ROM they wouldn't mind sharing?

At this point, I would say to Flash a GPS enabled radio using the SD method since you cannot boot. Just my opinion. May work though. But keep in mind when doing this, you may have to get a new A-Key which could be a bit of a pain. Be sure you have read up on flashing of Radios and ROMs and what you could encounter in doing so, and how to get yourself out of a screw up (Which is not always the user's fault, my kid unplugged my USB cable one night during a flash and threw me for a loop to get out of bootloader!) Here's a good thread to get firmiliar with. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=33857 |

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition
Thanks for the response Tplane - I'll check that thread out. :)
I started it back to the bootloader (power + vol down + reset button) and loaded Con's latest WM6.1 Diamond ROM just to get it running again for now, but I'd really like to play with wm6.5 if I can... |

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition
1 Attachment(s)
40+ hours and counting running this build. Still stable, no Resets due to error.
Issues noticed: -After a reset, display goes to "Suspend" mode. Just have to push power button to wake it up. On initial "Wake Up" the messaging upper and lower bar show and are functional just as if the messaging window were actually open, but the Today background is showing (Titanium). if you press the "Send" button, it will bring up the window to call the contact at the top of your SMS list. I simply press the X to close it out, and everything is good to go. Not a major issue, just a little redundant. -Visual only: again, with Titanium running, the transparent upper and lower bars show sometimes in programs. it's about 50/50, so I haven't figured out if the transparent bars from the Today screen are supposed to show in all programs or if they are only supposed to be in the Today/Programs/Settings features. When the transparent bars are not showing, it simply reverts to the stock WM themed upper and lower bars. Still work as normal though, so this is a visual error only. -Skinning the dialer: I cannot seem to get a functional dialer skinned. I have used a variety of methods thus far, I will keep working on it. Part of the issue is the different SmartDial interface than the other dialers that are currently used. I am using TDial at the moment, which wants a Touch Dialer on the Titan to skin. The Touch Dialer looks out of place when installed because of the SmartDial window. I have been reading up over at the following thread since I an new to the Dialer Skinning proccess. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=7819 Any assistance for working with the Dialer on the Titan with WM 6.5 would be great. I have also installed the VistaHide Battery meter CAB. Works great and looks really good with the Titanium Today screen. Look at the very top of the screen shot below. That multi colored bar is the new Battery meter. The CAB file is also below for anyone who wants it. It came out of Scotts R4R ROM. http://www.scottcrosler.com/Titan.html http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j5.../Screen016.png |
Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition
I finally got it booting - needed to insert the xip then leave it alone for a while (let's repeat.. I'm a N00B). Also, I can't get the xip Con linked on page 30 or 31 to work - but the one in the first post works fine. Anyone else having that prob or is it just me?
I didn't need to flash the radio (yet). Is it just me or does it seem to take a while to boot? edit: Mine seems to be taking about 3 minutes before it changes from the black "Touch DIAMOND" screen to the green "Windows Mobile 6.5" screen. |
Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition
Here's an off the wall question. I have my Dialer skinned....somewhat. While I was fishing around in the Registry trying to finish things up, I came across the following string:
HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\IOTA\Phone\D efault\UAString="http://device.sprintpcs.com/HTC/PPC6800/3356512.rdf" Being curious, I typed the link into my laptop's browser. It came up as a site with what seems to be a ReadMe txt file instructing on how to write a particular XML file for the 6800. My question is, why is this in the registry? If it were an actual XML, I could understand, but a detailed list of instructions? DO I need to just leave this in there, or should I/can I delete it? Since I am not sure what it is, I thought I would ask some of you more experienced users. Thanks! |

At the moment, I really had a time, but I have something that will work for now. But if I change my mind on the dialer, it will be a pain to build another one. I found one CAB that put the buttons in the correct spot and functioned. I then went in and renamed and replace all the files to the images I wanted after toying around for some time to get everything close to the right size. Here's a screen shot of my current Dialer. Now I need to figure out how to change the transparency of the SmartDial window, since the RegFile is either missing or in a different place. http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j5.../Screen021.png How can I add the RAF option to TDial, if not the RAF, then another 16 button grid with the Smart Dial the crosses the screen? |
Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition
sorry, I assumed you were cooking roms being in the 6.5 thread, what you do is create a skin for big button, then replace the graphics in the RAF dialer oem. you will also have to photoshop the smartdial graphics in there to get the full effect.

I've got the dialer issue panned out for the most part now, but I am still unable to adjust the transparency of the SmartDialer window, it seems to be integrated with the functionality of the dialer program itself, and nothing I do is changing that window at all. I am actually considering turning it off all together if I can find it in the Reg. But for now, I went ahead and removed the icons from the picture up above and just put text in instead so it blends better. Now on to the next task....I am running out of ideas (other than the stock keyboard). What issues are people having right now? The performance related edit I posted previously are keeping things stable and quick. My SMS/MMS is working fine, email is working, SD Card is working. Data connection is working fine, IE8 is working for me as well. GPS worked, then I got the aGPS working too. I cannot test the WiFi at the moment because I don't have a WiFi network to play with while visiting my family out of state. I may actually be to the point of doing a final cook for mine here shortly...unless there are other issues that come up. Mr-Free, what issues are you still trying to work out of Beta 2? Or have you devoted yourself to Beta 3 now? I feel things are looking pretty good. Anyone on Verizon and using the XV6800, if you are having any issues, post up so we can figure them out. :thumbleft: |
Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition
so, when using sliding panels, there is a brief animation as focus changes, anyone know how to disable this? I think disabling it would speed up scroll action in titanium a great deal
|
Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition
Quote:
Once there, Expand "User Interface" You should have "Animate windows:" Yes/No and "Animate Menus:" Yes/No. Try changing them to "No" Soft Reset, and see if that makes any difference. That is the only place so far that I have seen mention of being able to edit any animations. But I have only been able to get through roughly 6000 Registry files so far in comparing them to various other ROMs I have flashed...roughly 5000 more entries to examine! LOL. Let me know if this option helps with turning off the animation you are speaking of, and also if it helps your speed issue. |

I can't seem to build a diamond rom with the 21159 xip without an xip error during the build process. End size is smaller than start size or something. I also can't seem to boot sys 21159 on my diamond with a different xip. SYS/OS 21139 works, but is buggy as hell.

What have you tried already in an attempt to get your SMS working? Have you gone into your Registry at all? If so, what edits have you done? And which version of Arcsoft do you have? Furthermore, are you flat out unable to send/receive any messages at all? Or is it just the MMS? We'll need a little more information to narrow things down. |
Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition
I just downloaded calcu's kitchen to see what the issue might be, and had no issue, maybee you caught a bad download and something is corrupted, to insert the xip, I put os.nb.payload in mytools/os.nb.payload, and xip_out.bin in xip_new_ported, then ran the kitchnd cmd chose 5:insert xip and all went well, it created the rom folder with no issues.
