In all these "calculations" of how much revenue was lost because some pirated software or music I wonder if they ever factor in how much less grief they got from angry customer emails, time and money spent supporting it, and how much word of mouth publicity it got thereby increasing the size of their potential pond of customers and raising the percentage of people who would pay for said software. I'm not justifying anything. Simply some food for thought. |

Re: Piracy, warez and You.
how come software on iphone cost $3-$6 and often time the same software on winmob costs 5-10 TIMES more?
Most people would not bother cracking software for $5. My point is that software for windows mobile in most cases is just hugely overpriced. |

Some companies/bands/etc put out there software/songs in the warez world because it's pure advertisement for them. Sometimes, yes, it does hurt them, but I know personally a bunch of people that just use warez to try out a software to make sure they'll like it and that it's worth the price, and then they either buy the software or donate to the developer however much they think it's worth. So it does have it's good points, and definitely it's bad points. *I'm not condoning warez*

If the software on Win Mob is too expensive, people will either steal or move to iphone. In both ways, Win Mob community looses. |

Re: Piracy, warez and You.
I think they know it is a free market economy (at least right now). There are some of us though who have no problem at all paying for an application that meets/exceeds the need. As for moving to the iPhone - no.
