Not being able to sign on is getting on my damn nerves. I'm giving this until the end of the night and then I'm uninstalling it. I heard it looks like a$$ on Diamond... is that true?

Re: Skyfire Version 0.80 Beta

Figured out how to sign in to open the program.
Go to website and sign in. Go to reset password
and key in your email address and have skyfire
assign you a password and email it to you.
When you get the new password in your email,
key it in and it will unlock the browser and you are
good to go.=D>=D>=D>

Try from the begining, step by step.

1) Remove Skyfire completely.
2) Install Skyfire .61
3) Login to Skyfire .61 to Authenticate, then exit.
4) Install Skyfire .8
4) Let the installation remove previous version.
5) Attempt to login to Skyfire .8
6) Reset your password.
7) Attempt to login with your OLD password.
8: If that fails, change your password back to the old password.
9) Attempt to login.
10) If this fails, or if you login to a black screen, try again later. The servers are still bogged down by too much traffic.

Re: Skyfire Version 0.80 Beta

Mines working now. I clicked option "Forgot password" which did the password reset (skyfire emailed me a new password. Then I logged into the skyfire website with the new password and changed the password back to the original one. I was then able to log in with the skyfire browser.

Re: Skyfire Version 0.80 Beta

From the Skyfire forum:

Quote:

Everything you mentioned is server side related. All your data/preferences/history/bookmarks etc are stored on the server. The beta version released today is a conversion from the alpha program and they are having issues changing peoples accounts to work correctly as posted. On top of that slowdown issues etc are likely being caused by a massive influx of traffic from them opening the beta up to the public. I would just ask you to be patient for the timebeing while they get the infrastructure more stable. This is a beta, and they are definetly stress testing the product. Before opening the beta many improvements and expansion work was done to the servers, and I'm sure there are few kinks here and there.

The skyfire team works very hard and long hours to make their product shine, I know they'll have these issues resolved shortly. Thank you for your patience.

Freezing after un-installing it doesn't sound right...

I gotta take off soon, hope it works for you. If not, I'll be back in the morning.

I can tell you, as an alpha tester on this release the problems you're experiencing tonight are from the stress the servers and under from the massive number people upgrading at once and clogging the servers. Beta .80 is not intended to be a completed product, but a gradual evolution to what will eventually become Skyfire 1.0.

Performance wise this release is the fastest and most stable release to date-- with that said, give the sever congestion time to cool down and you'll see just how snappy a performer Skyfire has become. During the months of testing I've seen performance levels surpass Opera Mini with Skyfire during busy afternoon/evening hours when most people would be stressing the network. Just be patient...

If you have suggestions on how to improve the product send e-mail to feedback@skyfire.com, trust me they listen and respond to constructive user feedback, that's partly how I became part of the alpha program.

Re: Skyfire Version 0.80 Beta

Wow...what a piece of crap! I have a Sprint Touch with latest official rom, and while getting Skyfire to work was no problem (installed it with the old version installed, didn't even ask me for a password), the actual performance of the new version was absolutely horrendous! When I tried changing the home area, I had to enter the zip code blindly, if it would even let me input anything! I'd click on that field and nothing would happen, then after a few more taps the old zip code was highlighted but no way to bring up a keyboard....of course the new home area didn't stay at all. Video playback was shoddy too...sometimes it worked, but it took a while to get it to work. They also took the "mute audio" option out of the menu. Sometimes I'd start it up and click on bookmarks and I would just see the circle thingy going around with nothing happening. After a while, it just showed an empty bookmark page. After a few more tries the bookmarks showed up finally. If anything the browser seemed slower as well. I went back to the old version.

Re: Skyfire Version 0.80 Beta

whoever it was who was submiting tickets to skyfire, here is what i think this release needs:

the ablility to hear auido ALL the time

the old way of typing back, i didnt love it, but i didnt hate it

the ability to zoom the screen to ANY size, not just the "ratio" that they had before.

otherwise this is a great brower, and i would call it my perfect browser if it was able to do that ^_^

Re: Skyfire Version 0.80 Beta

just downloaded the new vers. idigg the new look and especially like the sms sharing capability! one thing thats irritating is when i get certain messages on my screen the browser snaps back to the start page! so i have to refresh the link, which is tiresome. all and all though, skyfire is the best

when you visit youtube how do you get the videos to go into fullscreen mode?

roopull 09-25-2008 05:37 AM

Re: Skyfire Version 0.80 Beta

You can still zoom in to *almost* any size. You just have to use the tool in the top bar to do it.

I liked the old way better, too.

i was using 4 browsers all at different times, for different reasons.

Opera Mobile, Opera Mini, IE, and Skyfire.

This new Skyfire has jus replaced them all and i can now finally uninstall them.

Hey I love Skyfire and use it still as my default browser that said I use the old build. The new one isn't worth the update.......

I agree, this version is certainly not "the one we've been waiting for" as some posters seem to think.

When I installed it, I made the mistake of saying yes when it asked if I wanted it to be the default browser. That sure didn't last long, 1/2 hour later I switched it back to Opera.

It kinda scares me that all that has to happen are a few server glitches & skyfire is totally out of commision. I can see using it as an addition to Opera at times, but it would have to improve dramatically before ever becoming your "one & only" browser.

Re: Skyfire Version 0.80 Beta

I am happy about one thing, skyfire works well enough for youtube playback etc. to allow me to finally delete the ridiculously invasive KinomaPlay from my system.

Kinoma still has a slight edge over skyfire in youtube playback quality, but skyfire is close enough without all the infuriating characteristics of Kinoma that they have stubbornly refused to correct (stealing every single file association in the system without even asking if it's OK, allowing a knowledgeable user to either turn off the scanning on every single startup or at the very least limit to folders of the users choice)

I guess that's why the call it "beta" and they continue to "test" it.

It's worked pretty well for me. The fact the it works in many ways exactly like the PC version is pretty awesome. The potential is there, just have to let it get through the beta cycles and testing.

Although, Microsoft's new Mobile browser will be out soon, that one might even give Opera a run for it's money.

It's a good time for mobile phone browsers. The mobile browser wars have begun!

late,

Its working for me, when i installed it asked would i like to add it, i clicked yes, and it was on the homescreen, and working... now if only i can figure out how to make it use YubNub, that would rule!

***EDIT***

This version is def way slower... I really wish they would add zooming like the newest opera... that is sweet!

I agree. I like the OLD beta better after using the new one for a day, but without beta testers, how are they supposed to know what to fix? For those of you who have complaints about .8: LEAVE FEEDBACK ON THE SKYFIRE FORUM, please. That's what it is there for. You can p*ss and moan all day about how much it sucks, or you can tell them what you like and don't like.

How come skyfire 0.8 supports less flash sites than the old skyfire 0.6? Sites such as live365.com music player. Anyone else having problems with some of the flash sites?
