Hey, I was an alpha tester for the v0.8. Did the install .cab give you the option to install the Today screen plugin at the point of installation? Maybe check the Start > Settings > Today > Items. There should be a box there simply titled "Skyfire"

OMG, I just installed it for like the 5th time in a row & the POS still won't authenticate......

Now I know why I deleted this POS from my old system........

I'm using a xv6900 on verizon and I haven't been able to sign in either. I wasn't able to get in on the last public beta but I did sign-up a couple weeks after that one closed, so I didn't create a brand new account but I still was not able to sign in this mourning after downloading the new beta (.80).

Skyfire has released an announcement:

feedback@skyfire.com

Tell them what you think... :-) Personally, I told them during the alpha testing to bring back or merge the contextual and freescale zoom fuctions, but they were more focused on showstopper bugs. If enough people provide feedback we'll see modifications made before the next final 1.0 release. So start e-mailing...

Alright, I got it working after changing my password for the 3rd time & reinstalling it from a cab file.

I can't get the home location to change however, I put in my zip code & save it but it reverts to Mountain View CA every time I restart it.

PM the results to me along with your phone model and OS version should it again. The Skyfire people are really trying to make sure the smallest things work on as many devices as possible. I will submit a bug ticket to the alpha testing group when it re-convenes.

as far as i know they do not support VGA screens yet. im sure they're working on it though. if they arent that'd be crazy since so many people are gonna be switching over to the Diamond and Touch Pro lol.

I'll submit your info and see what can be done. I'm not sure if the programming for the today plugin has a compliance issue with WM5 code (the only thing I can think of right now). I have no idea so let me stop talking now](*,).

Not sure if you aren't paying attention to my posts, but its not working on mine either :)

Resetting my password, then closing Skyfire and going back in didn't work... but when I did a search from the Today toolbar, it then accepted my password and now it works.

wow! a very nice browser just got even better. Thank goodness for ppcgeeks, because I wouldn't have known about the update otherwise. It takes a little longer on first startup, but after that it feels faster than the previous version. dschoenike

Not for me. I have changed it 10 times & it won't save the change.

Sometimes it won't let me change it at all. I click repeatedly in the zip code box & nothing happens....

Next step is http://www.skyfire.com/users/login/reset

Reset your password, then login w/ new password and change your password back to whatever it was. THEN give it another shot on the PPC. I got it working through installing .61, installing .80, then resetting the password.

Note: for all new user accounts, they fixed the login problem.

Now, it won't let me change it at all.

I guess it's a bug even though it worked fine in the last version.

I saw posts at skyfire from other users having the same problem.

Yea, that's probably it. I can't get it to save a favorite either.

I go to actions/add bookmark/OK, it says it was saved. I then go to bookmarks unsorted & there is nothing there. I can bring it up again from history, but that's it.

I would wait until tommorow, their servers are all messed up today & even if you do get logged in it isn't working very well at all.

Re: Skyfire Version 0.80 Beta

I originally tried installing 0.80 installed of my other version and couldnt get to authenticate - i tried installing the old version as mentioned in another request and it wouldnt load up so i reinstalled 0.80 and i got the message i did before not being able to authenticate. i tried changing my password but still wasnt able to get in.

I ended doing a soft reset and was able to get in after putting my email address and password in. If you are having trouble authenticating, you might want to give it a try. it worked for me. maybe skyfire fixed the issue.

im happy i am able to get back into the skyfire browser
