AWESOME! Sadly this means that I will say goodbye to PocketCM... but pointui is just getting better and better!
I know your post was awhile ago, Draiko, but it's a good reference to add a few comments.

First, there's been another update since your post (to 1.51a).

Secondly, I hope you didn't get rid of PocketCM. It ( and anything else, for that matter) are better at editing your contacts than the incomplete built-in contact manager in Pointui. Maybe the next version will do it.

Third, even though Pointui 1.51a works well on 320x240 devices, it doesn't play well with some of the new 320x320 devices (i780 & Treo Pro, to be specific). For some reason, 1.02b doesn't have some of the issues of the later versions. So, that's what I'm using on the Treo Pro.

Fourth, there are still some bugs. But the good news is that there's a new version coming. The original release date was supposed to be last month. That slipped, but the last comment indicated November. So, we're only weeks away, hopefully. There are supposed to be a free & a paid version at that time.

HTH

Bill

Your PointUI/Home 2 experience?

Hi, I've been running PointUI's Home 2 (the free version) for a few weeks now. I love the layout, the two tab feature to see both today and tomorrow. BUT there are a few things lacking for me, ie. having today's tasks on the today/tomorrow screens, having the battery status viewable on the main screen, and I wish the clock were a bit bigger. These are issues that I suppose are livable, though, as I like the Home 2 Today better than TouchFlo.

What I don't like is that periodically, Home 2 seems to "lock up" and either I have to go back to the Today settings to get back *any* today screen, or I have to click a multitude of buttons to get out of the initial Home 2 screen setup. It's really a nuisance, as it seems random, although most likely to happen when I need it most.

So here are my questions: I installed the free version figuring I'd eventually upgrade to the pay version, but I need to know for certain that the flaky behavior I described above will go away once I shell out $$$. I mean, I can live with TouchFlo, but I'd be willing to pay for this developer's work, if it really does work properly.

The other question is it doesn't seem like there's a lot of activity over on their forums. It seems like there are solutions to my above issues (clock/battery/tasks) in the form of applets, but those applets aren't in VGA so I can't use them. It looks like people were requesting alternate versions of the applets and that *someone* would mock them up for them, but given the slow nature of the forum during my trial period, I'm not so sure this is ever going to happen.

Anyone have any feedback? Suggestions?

Re: Your PointUI/Home 2 experience?

the applets should fix most of your issues. i ran PUI for a while but gave up on it for titanium. if you look hard enough you will find plenty of apps that are for VGA and if you find something you like that isnt, ask if someone would code of for VGA.

Re: Your PointUI/Home 2 experience?

There is a pretty decent size thread in these forums. I believe its actually in the Software forum

Just do an advanced search for titles only with "PointUi" and that's it

So I'm just gonna guess that since my thread was moved to a thread that hasn't seen any action since LAST YEAR, has nothing to do with the OP, and involves a specific device but isn't allowed in that specific device's forum,

Since there isn't anyone jumping down either on this forum or the PointUI forum trying to answer messages or prove that anyone's still interested in Home 2 (other than me and a few holdouts),

That PointUI is pretty much dead, it's not worth it to spend the money for the full version, and that the only way I'm going to see a Touch Pro compatible applet is to figure out how to make it myself.

That's fine, I just needed to know.

Moving on....

Re: PointUI - New Home UI Revolution - MERGED

I had to give up on PointUI for one reason:

Lack of HIGH QUALITY applets. For some reason, there are no OFFICIAL PointUI applets. There are just the community-built ones. Most of those have bugs or aren't designed well. If the PointUI team put out a bunch of HIGH QUALITY well designed applets to get things started, that would get me to go back to using PointUI.

Yah I agree, Point UI lacks apps. Has a few decent themes though

Pure curiosity, what's your definition of HIGH QUALITY applets? Not trying to be snarky, just curio.
Maybe you could suggest those ideas to the community or the PointUI Team?
