Re: Stuck in TITAN bootloader? Read this!

Hey guys. I have searched quite a bit on this particular problem, but have only thus far found a few bandaid solutions.

Basically, when I power-cycle/reset my Vogue (WM 6.1 when the problem started happening), it only seems to want to boot into the bootloader screen. My radio is up to date at 3.42.50 and I am currently using NFSAN's latest WM6.5 build with CoKe 2.31 bootloader. I can use my phone/data connection/GPS normally when I finally do gain access.

Bandaid solution one involves pulling out my battery, plugging in the charger cord, waiting 20 min, pulling out the charger cord, putting battery back in, powering on. This will get me out of bootloader mode, but next time I power-cycle/reset, im back into bootloader mode. Very hit or miss as it doesn't always work.

Bandaid solution two involves using ImCoKeMaN's titan_exitbl.rar uni_exitbootloader program. Ive read this entire thread, and I did make sure I was disabling ActiveSync/Mobile Device Center. Only seems to work on a specific XP machine (of two I have tried it on, and never worked on my Vista machine). Again, this will get me out of bootloader, but next time I power-cycle/reset, im back into bootloader mode. Works almost every try. Sometimes it takes two or three tries, unplugging and plugging the USB cable each time.

I would just say screw it and use the above methods to keep my phone working, but if im out on the road and I get stuck in bootloader mode, I would be in trouble. Plus, it just wouldn't be very stylish to have to tether a Windows XP box to my waist just restart my phone properly each time lol.

Anyways, I have tried flashing back to the latest stock Bell ROM and the problem has persisted.

I have flashed NFSAN's latest WM6.5 build onto my phone twice using ImCoKeMaN's 2.31.CoKe Unlocker to unclock the phone twice, and the problem has persisted.

Is it possible to change a value in the device's registry, or something such as that, to incorporate ImCoKeMaN's exitbootloader?? Is there some other file I could modify to ensure it restarts normally unless I soft-reset it into the bootloader on purpose? I am at my wits end on this one guys. Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance guys!

Might want to post this in the vogue section, not this titan section.
I don't know anything about the vogue to help you with.

Re: Stuck in TITAN bootloader? Read this!

sorry about that, I posted in here because this thread has been referenced in other forums. apparently the problem with the vogue and titan in this case are similar in nature?

in the case of a titan, what would you suggest doing?

let me preface my advise with this tidbit:

to exit 'stuck in bootloader' you can also try just flashing a rom from the storage card. there are several threads dedicated to 'flashing from card' and its also my preferred method of rom flashing.

1) change radio
2) flash back to stock shipped exe
3) lock/unlock
4) downgrade to non-gps and then upgrade back (read disclaimer)

disclaimer: this advise is just what i would do. if following my advise should lead to the bricking of your device then i will not accept responsibilty.

i know you said u flashed stock, but there's stock dumps and then there's stock shipped roms... so make sure its a shipped rom. if swappin to another radio (which i also suggest flashing from card) nor restoring to stock shipped rom fixes, then perhaps your bootloader is corrupted? idk if thats even possible but if you relock after flashing stock then your phone should be 100% factory!

i have added #4 since i dont know offhand if complete restoral requires downgrade for your carrier. if there is not a gps shipped stock rom then downgrade is required. otherwise it would be retained as yet one more step you could try.

my answer would be the same for 6800 or 6900 (only the files would obviously be different)

Thank you very much for the reply!

to exit 'stuck in bootloader' you can also try just flashing a rom from the storage card.
This is what I did on my last flashing of WM6.5, which is currently running on my phone. Renaming the .nbh file to, in the case of my phone, VOGUIMG.NBH on a 512mb card, etc. etc.

i know you said u flashed stock, but there's stock dumps and then there's stock shipped roms... so make sure its a shipped rom.
I flashed the stock Bell rom from the HTC website.

One thing I did not do is relock my phone after flashing the stock Bell ROM. I just flashed into stock, did my fix for getting past the bootloader, and then flashed WM6.5 via the RUU supplied by NFSAN. After that I then proceded to try flashing WM6.5 via the card method. All using CoKe 2.31 bootloader.

Would it be a waste of time to reflash back to stock, relock, unlock, and reflash back to WM6.5 again? I am assuming there is no way to correct the bootloader without reflashing?

Re: Stuck in TITAN bootloader? Read this!

Strangely enough, the problem seems to have corrected itself... I am now able to reset properly, and I really didn't do anything different, other than not shutting it down for the past day or so.

I am certainly confused, but ill take what I can get I guess.

Thanks for the help anyways puff! Hopefully things won't change in the next little while.

No problem. That's what this site is all about, we are all here to help each other.

One thing to keep in mind, sometimes people don't reply simply because they don't have the answer your looking for...

If your experiencing an issue that no one else can duplicate or help you resolve, then it would not be a waste of time to completely restore back to factory settings as that is what you would need to do anyway in order to get it exchanged or repaired...

Re: Stuck in TITAN bootloader? Read this!

So I tried to flash a stock ROM. It is the latest one from HTCs website. Still in bootloader. Not sure if I did things correctly though. With the phone in bootloader I ran the EXE. Everything went just fine but the phone ended up back in the bootloader. I still can't get it out trying the same things as I did above. I'm guessing the phone is probably toast...

Re: Stuck in TITAN bootloader? Read this!

After installing the unlocker with win 7 64bit, the unlocker couldn't exit bootloader and running the unicode bootloader exit exe kept coming back with unable to establish a USb connection to the phone even though Mobile Device Center was completely shutdown. Used MTTY from the kitchen, connected via USB and typed in the "set 16 0" command then reset and viola out of bootloader and it restarted normally.

Thanks ImCoKeMaN!

Re: Stuck in TITAN bootloader? Read this!

If like me you have worked your way through this forum without success don't give up. In the end I read a suggestion on another forum which advised to use the back usb connection on your PC. It worked straight off and I was able to flash a new ROM.
