More details on what you have done and what problems you are encountering would make it easier to try to determine the fix.

Which unlocker did you install? Does it properly reflect on the bootloader screen? Which ROM based on 3.16 did you install? Did you also install the 3.27 radio? Do the ROM and radio properly reflect on the boot-up screen? What are you trying to do when you get the "not connected" error?

If you have installed the proper unlocker, but have not yet successfully flashed the 3.16 ROM and radio, have you tried the "flash from SD card" method?

I am still not understanding your situation clearly. Are you still having problems, or are you saying that getting the new phone fixed your problems?

If you are still having problems...
1. What 3.16 ROM did you flash?
2. Did you also flash the new 3.27 radio?
3. Did you load the unlocker before or after you flashed the ROM?
4. When in bootloader now, do you see Olipro 2.40?
5. If you reset the phone, can you get as far as the boot-up screen that shows the radio and ROM levels at the bottom right, and, if so, what does it show? (They would be an R number and a D number)

OK, if you flashed the "unofficial leaked" ROM from kmartburrito, it contained, in that one package, the 3.16 ROM, the 3.27 radio, and the correct locked bootloader. Why did you follow that up with the Olipro unlocker? Were you planning to flash a custom ROM, perhaps to get WM6.1, and did you try to do so?

Will the phone boot up, or does it go right back to the bootloader screen? Try to flash a custom ROM, using the SD card method if necessary, if that is what you wanted to do. Or if it is stuck in the bootloader, try the exitbootloader app from this thread:

If your bootloader screen displays Olipro 2.40, your device IS unlocked.

Well, since the only reason to unlock the phone is to flash a custom ROM, try doing so.
