The current versions of Colonel's ROMS on the 6800 need that extra step to get out of the bootloader. His are currently the only custom ROMs for the 6800.

Thats all I needed was that confirmation then, thank you Stroths. The whole project is underground and quiet atm, so getting any info at any specific time can be daunting. Nonetheless, I am quite happy with colonels efforts thus far

Is this correct?

Or is this correct?

I'm a bit confused now LOL. The way I understand it from ImCoKeMaN is that the bootloader has a feature that prevents it from being overwritten, and from what Olipro is saying, if I'm not mistaken, you just put the phone in bootloader mode and then load a stock ROM and it's done.

Could you guys please clarify this? I'm keeping the patched bootloader either way. I just thought it would be a good idea to post instructions to go back to the stock SPL for other users that may want to know how, or for the users that would like to patch their SPL and try custom ROMs, but are afraid to do so because they think it can not be undone. Perhaps someone could edit the original post with instructions to go back to the stock SPL if it can in fact be done.

Just a suggestion

Thanks guys! I appreciate all the work you guys are doing to make the Titan a better phone. Keep it up!

Both of those statements were true. The soft SPL is the 1.10 version you see when starting the install of the Hard-SPL. That version is loaded in ram from the OS, the hard-SPL is 1.20 and that is actually in the rom of the device. If you run the soft SSPL (in ram, 1.10) you can flash an nbh with only the SPL.nb in it and it will overwrite the hard SPL on the device (not itself). I don't want to promote the regular use of the soft-SPL though as i encountered errors (thought it was truly bricked for a while) when trying to flash a full nbh (including rom and radio etc) . The method in which it is loaded into RAM seems to affect it's access to the radio so use caution. Rule of thumb: If the nbh is ~257k you should be safe with SSPL, any larger make sure you use the Hard-SPL.

So Coke, does this mean that having used the unlocker, if I went back to HTC stock rom, it would lock me back up, and I'd have to unlock again if I wanted to use another rom other than HTC?

eh, screw it. I'm going to jump in the water and fiddle around with the different ROMs.

I really want to go back to WM5 though... nobody in this thread has said anything about that one so we'll see how it goes. ImCoKeMaN has apparently done it so I'll try as well.

EDIT: Well, it freaked me out there for a second. The bootloader launched but the ROM update said there and sat there was a communications error... I figured I'd let it sit for a few seconds and voila! I now have Alltel WM6 on my phone, OS only. Much thanks!
