Assuming the basic functions I need (Exchange support, good browser, support for multiple IMAP/Gmail accounts, Office document support, etc.) are covered, I could get away with not having some of the other functions (RDP access, for instance) until someone figures them out. And if it really runs as well as it's expected to with the interface we know it already has, I might just be willing to switch. I've stuck with Windows Mobile over the iPhone due to the closed-off nature and hardware/carrier limitations of that over-hyped fashion statement. But I have no problem switching to an OS/device that has the best of both worlds. Wide developer support, an open nature, and lots of hardware options sounds like exactly what I would want in a phone. And as long as it interacts with my current needs without making me rearrange my business and software needs (like the iPhone), then I'm open to it. |

As for my personal dependence on WM6 software, I don't think that will change immediately, which is why I like the idea of being able to swap OS's personally. I'm sure with time, all of the functions I require out of my device will become available on Google's platform, but it might take time. Out of the box, so to speak, WM6's feature set isn't all that impressive really, but given the right software, there's very little that my Mogul can't do. I feel restricted by its limited ram, and lack of hardware acceleration, but otherwise, WM6 can do quite a lot, really. I need Android to match WM6 in terms of all of its functions--as an entertainment device--a media player--and an internet device (including all of the extra frills you can get there will add-on software). I'm sure it will.. I'm just not sure that will happen with 1.0. The UI is a big deal though, even though Androids UI isn't finished (0.9's is completely different!) it's still better than WM6's! I'd be thrilled if I could check out 0.9 tho--this version is so very far from complete, and the interface responds in such wacky ways, even when it does work. The web browser in its current form is impressive technically, but basically unusable. |

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
If we could get our buttons working while we wait for dzo to make the RIL library for cellular radio control, we'd be able to use .9 no problem.

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
Ok I have to try anything at least once.
I get it to go but I can not for the life of me figure out how to exit out of areas that I get stuck into. Like I go int Maps but can't get out of it for the life of me. But so far I like it.

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
Unfortunately, the previous half-working method of getting out of apps via the end call button has been broken in .9, which means no matter what app you choose, you're stuck there. LOL

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
I know that this is the line to edit for data but how do I insert the specific info to work right?
Code:
set cmdline "ppp.username=mobile@jamamobile ppp.password=telecom msmsdcc_fmax=48000000 quiet" |

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan
It won't work on .9 because the RIL library is broken - no radio communication whatsoever. dzo is working on it.
As for the data... I've always had to just have an active data connection on the old build and it would pick it up and browse... the connect string never worked on my Mogul but it works on my buddy's Touch. |
