I have had no real problems with this in about 4 days use. Looks faster and GPS more reliable.

Re: New Official Sprint ROM (3.56, radio 3.42.20)
I have also been using this rom for several days. The only thing that would not work for me was Skype. However, I found a program under www.nimbuzz.com which is a Fring type program that supports a number of IM and Voip services. I tried Skype under Nimbuzz and found that after a few minutes the Skype test call contact was available (under Echo123), and Skype worked both ways using my plug in headset.
Echo123 comes on and off-line and right now it is offline so I cannot try it again. I was able to call my one Skype contact that was online right now. I have noticed that if my contact is not online, and goes online, Nimbuzz does not recognize that until I exit and restart the program. Nimbuzz does not show contact names very well, just numbers for my landline contacts. I am also seeing some press that nimbuzz cannot call landlines yet, only Voip contacts. Stay posted. At least they seem to have cracked the Windows 6.1 problem. Perhaps this will work as a stopgap for some people until Skype and Fring get their 6.1 problems worked out. Re: New Official Sprint ROM (3.56, radio 3.42.20)
Maybe this was fixed in one of the more recent ROMs that I didn't try, but I think the dialer is waaay faster. Almost fast enough so that it doesn't skip numbers if i rapid punch them in. It still misses 1 in every 10 or so. Anybody else? I have about the same amount of RAM as I did before, so I don't think its that...

Re: New Official Sprint ROM (3.56, radio 3.42.20)
A quick warning: PmClean can cause rolling reboots on this ROM version.
In the past, we were often told that to clean up the notification queue, we should install PmClean and set it to remove duplicates from the notification queue nightly. That apparently works, but... I foolishly tried checking the box that has PmClean do a soft reset after its cleanup. Mistake! My Mogul is now into rolling reboots. Clearly, PmClean has put something stupid into the startup. I am desperately looking for a way to bring up my Mogul in "safe mode" as an alternative to a hard-reset. |
