Ok I'm fairly new to flashing. I had no problem flashing to the 3.16 rom but now I want to try one of the custom roms. I want to flash to shadowmite's version. I downloaded the file from rapidshare (http://rapidshare.com/files/86648524...05spl.rar.html) but its a .rar file. Im just trying to make it work. Please Help!

u need pocket rar to extract it.

Ok thanks. I havent seen anyone post anything saying to use pocket rar but ill try it. I dont know how to format the card but i can find out. Is that necessary to perform the operation that im trying to perform.

No, but its neessary for me to format my sd card so i can load that new rom off of it.

Even after that heartfelt little warning I gave I cannot believe the questions here....OK I'm just gonna let it go after this because I might need help too later but OMG the questions ...Seriously if you cant format an external hard drive WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO FLASH YOUR PHONE !!! ? ? ?
By the way my MSID IS NOT MY PHONE NUMBER I LOOKED . just for laughs I thought I'd point that out since the verizon guy tried his version at explaining the install.

Theres this guy, in another thread - ffk_pennywise " Have to return bricked 6800. What will they look for?" he's about to fry a perfectly good ppc--so he can return it and PAY for a replacement.....People this is just plain crazy. [Hopefully thats just verizon, cause if sprint tries to make me pay a deductible I'm going to hit the ceiling ..] anyway...Dude needs his phone for daily work ,,dudes freaking out ready to back over the phone if necessary .....

I dont understand..... why would he risk doing the upgrade with the POTENTIAL of causing himself this much stress ? I'm really really sorry, I'm definitely a noob and I appreciate the help everyone here provides, and even people who "" Brick "" their PPC (or think they have bricked their PPC) deserve help,,, but wow ... if you seriously don't have a clue from the beginning, Oh never mind I get it I'm done ranting... how do I change my screen protector... J.K.

Some things that u find to be simple i do not. There are numerous posts on how to flash ur phone but there is nothing stating how to format a card. Some people on this board take for granted that everybody knows the basics. well sorry to inform u, be we don't. You can either help us or not. It took more time and energy typing ur 3 paragraphs than it would've taken for u to just answer my question. Oh yeah my MSID # is the same as my phone #and I figured out how to format the SD card. It took me a while, but I did it.

I feel you on that. I know a whole lot about my ppc more than most actually Ive just never used a custom rom. This is the wrong thread to choose when you want to hate on somebody for asking a question, after all it is the ***Offical n00b Guide to get new Update to Work***
