Re: I think I bricked my epic lol :/

I decided to run the VisionKernal 1.2 on my phone. If my phone bricks you won't find me crying about it. I knew the risk when I flashed this beautiful Kernel, this work of art.

I will not be a sissy and back away from your vision1.2 just because I heard that some of people's phone got bricked. People have a tenancy to post bad news and not share good news.

VisionKernal 1.2 is the best Kernel I have put on my phone so far.

I am using the Midnight Rom V5.2 Standard no journal and your VisionKernal 1.2 and I am getting phenomenal battery life less than 1% battery drain when idol.

Keep up the good work. Granted I have my phone processor running at 600 mhz. But man my phone runs smoother than stock rom at 1000 mhz.

Thank you for all of your hard work. I guess if you can make a version without undervolting the RAM maybe more people can enjoy your magic. Anyways I am lucky so far 2 days no problems and getting better battery life each day.

On a separate topic, I have a OEM 1650 battery coming in the mail in 2 weeks from Europe. Even more killer battery life so watch out battery phone drainage VisionKernal 1.2 is coming for your butt!!!

I never tried the kernel, and I haven't even OC'ed Genocide (BTW they really should change the name of that kernel) beyond 1.2Ghz. At least now we know the phone can be bricked. It only took 7 or 8 months to learn that.

Ohh Steve.......

Well no one thought it was completely impossible to brick...mostly when dealing with OC/UV..we just knew that it was unbrickable(for the most part) from flashing/tinkering...OC/UV is a different game...

Yeah, and since it took us sooo long to get froyo, it took forever to get to this point where we could brick it that way.

I have been OCing PC's for 15-17 years and if you hit 10% of normal speed you were lucking. As times change and thermal cooling got better so did the OCing. Now the normal life of a CPU running at it's stock speed was 10 years per Intel. When you OC you will produce more heat and you better have a way to remove that heat. I have a Quad CPU rated 2800ghz OC'd to 4000ghz and I use water cooling to reach that speed.

Please explain to me why you want to OC you phone 40% of rated speed.
If you really are getting 1400 I think it's just a matter of time before you phone will fail.

Not that I overclock phones (currently) but I do also overclock Intel CPU's so I'll answer the question...

Most people in the world use their phones for about 2 years before they upgrade, most people here in the forums use their phones for about a year (if that) and then upgrade to whatever is newer/better, most of these phones can handle the abuse for awhile until people upgrade before the jump to their next toy. Most of the tools needed to do this aren't even out the day the phones released so instead of a year, you might be abusing the phone for a few short months.

A few people do brick their phones in the process but they probably have insurance and don't care about it. Plus you can get a used phone off of ebay, craiglist or even here for about ~$200, if you ran out of options.

People are more caring about their home computers because we build them from scratch. They are also a much larger dollar figure investment (mine was about $1,900), so we take more precautions since it's a total loss if we hose these systems and there isn't any insurance to fall back on.
