By the way ptfdmedic, even on the clean BYOR, I flashed the Gingerbread keyboard and without any apps\restores, still got forced close when opening the hard keyboard. Is that still an unavoidable problem which has no fix yet?

I didn't have that problem. My second time around I installed my needed apps before my first reboot. Maybe that would help. I just install Swype, don't use the gingerbread keyboard.

@ptfdmedic, you won't be able to make everybody happy. I agree with Johnny.Bravo regarding the amount of time spent installing desired apps. A lot of work and configuration time. So, I'd prefer a complete ROM. But wait! I use Handcent SMS and I like the AOSP email better than stock so I wouldn't want those.

So like I said, you can't make everyone happy. This is why my personal opinion is for you to follow your muse. Make what YOU like. If some don't like it they can move on. IMO

Yea, I agree with everyone else, you should make it how you want it. As long as nothing is cooked into the rom and we can remove it, it really shouldn't matter. I think your going above and beyond with doing to version of your rom imo.

Re: [ROM] midNIGHT ROM v3.2 (Build Your OWN ROM Edition) 2/4/2011

As I said I a people pleaser....

I many of the system apps can't be installed into data which would make them easily removable.....But they can be replaced either prior to flashing the rom or by flashing the zip after.

I don't mind doing 2 versions it really isn't that much harder then 1. The hardest part really is just the uploading. It takes forever. My connection is 15mb down and .5mb up. But when I upload I can only upload at like .05mb or like 56kb/sec (right? terminology is probably off).

I think the sweet spot is a few more basic apps in the BYOR version and let that be for more advanced users and leave the prebuild for the ones that don't want to mess with it.....

You will not see that problem cause you don't use Gingerbread keyboard. Swipe works fine and doesn't produce those forced close errors.

Yea your close, the thing is ISP's rate speed in bits (usually b) not bytes (usually B) which is what everyone knows. Since there is a 8 bits in a byte you basically have to divide your connection by 8 to get what your speed actually is in terms of what most people understand. Basically, all of our ISP's screw us out of money!

Guys I posted a tutorial on the blog. It explains briefly how to add apps to the BYOR midNIGHT ROM (or most other deodexed ROM's) prior to flashing....

I hope this helps. I have a long wait today so I'll try and check in from time to time.......
