Yes, you do....that is what everyone is talking about when they are saying Odin to dk28. You'll need to follow the "Alternate Instructions" on the page that you linked

Alternate Instructions: Update Android 2.2 Froyo for Epic 4G

Intended for those going from any other version of Android to the latest firmware.

Download the required .tar file
Download Odin
Open up Odin and put your phone into “download mode”
Turn off your phone, wait until the lights turn off
Hold “1″ on the keyboard while powering up
Plug your device in
Place the .tar file in the PDA slot
Start flashing
Congratulations! You now have Android 2.2.1 Froyo (DK2 on your Samsung Epic 4G from Sprint!

One you've done that you've completed step one of the installation process

1) Odin back to Stock DK28 (not extended version)

If you have any questions about installing oneclickroot with CW recovery or flashing roms you may want to check out the youtube videos that the OP posted to his blog

However, later I'll go back into the market and check my "installed apps" and they'll all just show up as free and not installed; however, they are definitely installed as they are in the app drawer and will open. I can then reinstall each one of them again and they'll change status in the market. The only problem I have with this is if they aren't showing installed in the market then I won't be notified when there are updates available.

I first had this issue when I just flashed 2.9.2 over 2.9. I figured that something was screwy so I odin'd back to dk28 and followed all the instructions with and I'm still having the issue. I'm just not sure if this is an isolated problem or is anybody else experiencing this as well?
I only see the quick boot redirect problem, but not the market installed issue you mentioned.

I'm wondering if this might have to do with the method of restoring apps. I had this issue right after restoring my apps with TB, but shortly after everything was showing as installed in the market. Seemed like it might be a syncing issue. Just my thought on it.

How is battery life with this ROM? I'm not sure if the Epic's battery life is up to par yet...
Thanks.

Anyone find browser scrolling a bit lagy and jumpy? The same thing with two finger zoom not being smooth either, but rather jumpy too.

the browser to me is alittle laggy. the thing thats gets me the most is when im trying to post on a forum, its sooooooo laggy when im typing. i have to go slow. and when i have to backspace it takes for ever.

also the zoom kinda sucks. when you double tap it to zoom in, it never resizes the the webpage. i used to be able to double tab and the the whole web page would resize and the text would fit the screen.
