Re: There are no games for Omnia :(
Look in the games thread in the PPC software forum...there are tons of games that run on the Omnia. Games typically aren't made for specific phones (not counting the iPhone/G1), they're made for Windows Mobile or Java (or Brew on older Verizon phones), at least for the most part. I have many games on my phone, including Prince of Persia, Asphalt 4, Need for Speed Undercover and Spider-Man: Toxic City (which is by far the best game I've ever played on Windows Mobile).

Re: There are no games for Omnia :(
Thanks guys, I have alot of those you mentioned, I really just wanted something new. It seems that other than those couple of games you guys mentioned (and the ones on omniahub) there just arent many for us to choose from.
I really would like adventure games like Orcs and Elves and those kind of games, and it seems like our phone cant play any games like that, simply because of the lack of hardware keys. I check out the games thread, but I dont really have too much luck. Like the guy who found Sonic Unleashed was super nice and told me he had found a version for the Omnia, but I tried it using both Java and Jblend and it wouldnt play. Maybe Im being too picky, I do appreciate the help though Edit: JUST GREAT! I paid 17 bucks for a game on Handango, but I cant install it until the developer emails the registration key, which could take up to two business days. Ugh Last edited by Solange82200; 08-09-2009 at 12:42 AM. |

Re: There are no games for Omnia... for a reason!
Folks, despite all the crap we can ever imagine filling these devices with... we must remember they are a PHONE, first and foremost. Adding games will surely eat up our precious battery time. If I didn't already adjust my setting, I'd have even less battery life! Here in Vermont (New England) we have poor/spotty coverage, and more often than not, we either have no service, little service or drifted/spotty service. Just the way it is out here.
In stand-by mode, with the screen blank (off) and nothing playing... I can get a good day's battery charge. To play music (with the screen off) - I'd have mere hours left. If I surfed the Net... I'm down to 30%. Thus the reason I keep the phone plugged in to the computer in the office - charging, as well as at home, at night... and in the car. In emergency management, I can NOT afford to have a drained or weak battery! Games...?? Who has time to play games, anyway??

My favorite games on Omnia so far are Asphalt 4 and Kevtris (even dope wars is fun) but I'm still looking for something new and interesting. One game that I know doesn't exist yet is an equivalent of Paper Toss (you guessed it, for the iPhone/touch) which I would love, I think that's the best little time waster ever. Also I can get about 2 days on battery with very little usage and my signal isn't fantastic, maybe it's better than yours though. Last edited by nitrous9200; 08-10-2009 at 11:39 AM. |

Re: There are no games for Omnia... for a reason!
Yes... I use the phone for business (much as I did my HP Jornada 720/728 handheld PC before it). Rather than thumb type, I use an iGO Bluetooth folding keyboard to do my reports. True, it will kill the battery time, as does going online via either WiFi or Dial-up/Broadband. One must measure the value of having a device that is like the Swiss Army Knife - loaded with fancy kit, or a simple phone AND a dedicated, separate Pocket PC device. Games... no. Sorry Mate. No time for them. That kind of luxury is left to the General Public. "Distraction" isn't in the vocabulary. (Wish it was, though...)

Re: There are no games for Omnia :(
I see your point Image, believe it or not, Im a single mom who works full time and yet I still have time for games lol. I have a long commute because of the traffic where I live (one hour each way), so I play with my phone when Im stuck in bumper to bumper. I have a psp and a ds, but for some reason I want games on my phone too. It just frustrates me to not have as many options, even though it's no one's fault but my own, the Omnia was obviously not made to be a gaming type of phone.
Edit: By the way, since I was whining about Handango in my earlier post, I will give them some credit since I actually got my registration code last night, instead of having to wait two business days. I still would have preferred to be able to play the game the same night I bought it, but waiting one day on a weekend isn't as bad as I thought. Last edited by Solange82200; 08-10-2009 at 01:02 PM. |
