Sorry I didn't mean to sound harsh. The USB charging is so pathetic (especially with a laptop) that it can barely keep up with the current draw needed for the display. Add to that the radios and you will seldom if ever see a full charge with it. It would charge to full if it did indeed charge when powered off but . . .

Now . . . I hate to further hijack a thread . . . but I have noticed that my Omnia will charge with the USB cable. And . . . if i have it connected with the USB cable and power the phone off, it will continue to charge.
Yes, the USB cable is much slower at charging than a wall charger, but will still work to a certain point, I am sure.
From my experience with a pda (iPaq), if the power level hit a certain threshold (about 30%), it would not charge any further with a USB, but would need to be charged with the wall charger. I have noticed similar behavior with this Omnia. When the battery was very low, it didn't seem to charge well at all. But, for the most part, it will charge.

Unless you've installed the USB drivers for the phone (Located on the vzw CD), you won't get a good charge. The standards for raw USB power are 5v and 100ma. Only with a device driver that specifically says so, will that change. The USB driver for the Omnia specifies for a USB port to pump 5v and 500ma to the device (the max). This is needed to charge and keep the phone charged.
This is the same reason that Blackberries don't charge unless the Blackberrie software is installed on a machine. It's the software that tells the PC to pump out 500ma in lie of 100ma.
Note: The AC power adapter provieds 5v and 700mv to the unit.

I am reasonable sure that I never did install the USB drivers from the Verizon disc, but may try that to see if the charging ability improves.
