Re: 2 New Omnia's in the HIZZY!!!!

Well I'm off to a roaring start. Finally resorted to a hard reset in less than 24 hrs. Lost all response to the screen after ironically running that VZApps to see if it was installed or not. Although could have been a combination of other stuff as I was tweaking prior to this, but this seems to have triggered it. Strange.

Re: 2 New Omnia's in the HIZZY!!!!

I hope you guys have better luck than a guy I work with. He LOVES the Omnia but he's on his 3rd one. The first two had defective screens.

I like his phone a lot, that & the TouchPro where my final two choices when I recently gave my xv6800 to my Son & upgraded.

VZ Apps is known to cause major problems. Never use it. I forget if it is in the ROM or not but if not just delete it. You don't need it anyways.

Re: 2 New Omnia's in the HIZZY!!!!

Yea I should have known better from my experience with the Apache and constantly adding new progs, tweaks, ect... to have a better backup plan in order. Its hard to hold back when you get a new device from just digging in and applying every tweak and edit you dig up w/o slowing down and keeping things in order better.

So I am trying out Memmaid again (actually had tried it out on the Apache a while back.) And I also have Spb Backup now.

How do I get rid of this VZApps permanently so as not to have a screw up again and click it? I suppose I could find it in the Windows/Start Menu and rid the Icon, but is there a better way?

It's like your running windows buddy....you have to go to the "Remove Programs" icon in the settings menu under the "System" tab. You can remove any programs from there. MemMaid is an excellent all around program. It reminds me of CCleaner for Windows......very functional app, just be careful what you get rid of.

I understand that much but my whole dilemma started by me clicking the icon (VZappZone) listed in programs by default after reading these comments on getting it removed, since it was not listed in add/remove I thought it was being installed already by default within the ROM (thus why it is sitting in the Programs section) and all this talk of "Un-installing" it, well since I couldn't find it anywhere, I mistakenly ran the stupid thing hoping for an option within.

So I guess the whole point is: "Don't click on the icon and it will never be installed" ? If it is this simple, then I will just destroy the shortcut/icon.

Let me know if you are able to lose that icon. I haven't been able to.

Gotcha.....has to be a way to remove the icon though. Pain in the *** to have to purposely avoid it while browsing the phone.

File Explorer: Navigate to--> Device/Windows/Start Menu/Programs

Scroll down to VZNav..whatever, press and hold till menu comes up, don't just click on it or you will run the damn thing! Select (Delete)

GONE

I guess if you haven't ever run it prior, it is now removed for good. ?

If you have ever run it it will put on a bunch of files on your device that you will need to go in and delete.
