How can an entry by itself under Notifications that just says "Default" and "Low battery warning" alter the behavior of the battery alarm? Does the text string "Low battery warning" trigger something? Also just to be clear: There are TWO entries that say "Default" within the Notifications tree. One looks like a little yellow file and when I look into it I see: Duration LedRefCount Options Wave The other one says "Default" but has a little white "ab" symbol next to it. It does not have any contents unless I try to edit it in which case I see the "Low battery warning" text that I just put into the value data box. I'll look into Resco. |
Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
Screenshot? There should be only one Default value, interesting there are two.
This in itself does not alter the behavior...it allows you to go into your notification settings in the system (same place to change the ringer), and modify settings there. I turn it off altogether, because I don't need my Omnia whining at me at 40% battery life. It still notifies you when you hit 20% or so. |

Worth looking into though!!! P.S. If anyone else is interested I am following an interresting little thread over at Modeco about an app to allow easy on/off of a lot of these reg tweaks we are talking about in here. I will post it over here as well, but I don't think it is 'proven' yet, so if you try it out, please be careful!!!! http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-o...ackings-alpha/ |
Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
Cool, maybe I can dissect it and find out why my cab file won't work. I've been making one so people don't have to enter the registry. But, it doesn't install :(

But I think there is some crucial information that I'm missing here. Here is the "default" at the root of Notifications. This is the one I placed a value of "low battery": http://home.earthlink.net/%7Echrisel...s/bathackc.jpg If I expand Notifications I see "Default" again: http://home.earthlink.net/%7Echrisel...es/bathack.jpg This other default has this inside it: http://home.earthlink.net/%7Echrisel...s/bathackd.jpg The only thing I see under Notifications that appears to relate to battery is this line: http://home.earthlink.net/%7Echrisel...s/bathackb.jpg |
Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
The very last screenshot is where you need to add the String Value Default with the value iof Low Battery Warning. Please revert any other changes you made, like that first default key.

But the scary thing is, I didn't add that white default. I think the ZIP file added it but I'm not sure. However, the value was blank so I put in a value of "Low Battery". Delete it anyway? |
Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
No, just revert the changes. The zip file didn't add it. There are various default values in the registry, don't sweat it if you find extras in different places.
The safest thing to do is only modify the location in question and ignore the rest, unless you are a registry guru and understand its workings. |

I will then add "Default" with the value "Low battery" under that long string of numbers shown on the last screen shot. (next to Duration, Options and Wave) |

Now I just have to play my music and surf the net for a couple of hours to drain the battery and see what happens. |
Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
Do it all on wi-fi if you can.....THAT will do the trick LOL!!!

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
Turn the flash on and leave it on :)

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
Smilepak, I installed your registry pack and then afterwards, my touchscreen stopped working. Any ideas as to why?
|
Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
Well.... didn't work. It hit 40% and beep! up comes the message interfering with the music player.
The only difference I can see is in what you wrote above. Your says: Options = 0 X 0 (0) On mine I have: Options = 9 (0X000009) Everything else is the same.....as far as I can see. Yes, I did a soft restart. |
Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
That is because you didn't change the notification options after you entered the reghack.
I am certain of it. That 0x9 value in options is the value set by default. Go into your notifications options and disable all of the low battery events. |

Under Notifications there is a long list of numbers as well as Default, Phone Reminders, ShellOverrides, Sounds. I don't see Low Battery Event. |

Settings --> Personal --> Sounds and notifications --> Notifications (tab) --> Event (drop down) --> Low battery (uncheck play sound, uncheck screen notification) So far so good! No obnoxious beeping or signs... |

There ya go. :)

If not, I wonder why they do not appear in Sounds and Notifications. |
Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
OK, what hack shall I do next.....perhaps the annoying lockout button that interferes with entering data during calls........

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
All is needed is to create a registry entry.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\ Samsung Today 2] "Order"=dword:00000003 "Flags"=dword:00000000 "Enabled"=dword:00000001 "Options"=dword:00000001 "Type"=dword:00000005 "Selectability"=dword:00000002 "DLL"="secst.dll" Thats it. Doesn't even require a reboot. This may also be the answer to those having issues with Samsung Today 2 on their VZW Omnias, too. OK guys - from the 1st post (since it was untried) does this work on the VZW Omnia? New to WM and do not want to create a brick... voyageurs60 |

I'm not sure what the heck that registry entry actually physically does. I wish I did as I hate performing tasks I don't fully understand....but it will take some time to understand this.... |

The reghack enables the notifcation options. |
Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

Yes, it is specifically for the VZW Omnia. It is not needed for the i900, as it is already in place. |

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
Just incase anyone is a little retarded like me:
To disable the 'data connection bubble' from popping up each time you connect simply go to settings>personal>sounds and notifications>notifications> Connection established then uncheck display message on screen. I'm sure most people figured this out but I had to search :newb: |
Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
I came across this thread http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1467857 related to the Omnia's battery life - from what most users are posting, the phone shipped with a crap battery (model ending in 31) and either went to the store or called and a new battery (ending in 20) was substantially better. (I don't own one, but hope to in a few months - so I have not experienced this myself)

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
I have a stock battery and get a good 2.5 days usage.
|
Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
I'm in the same boat as Adrynalyne...I think I can run about 3 days without a charge....of course that is without any exessive use (games, music....) normal usage without skimping I think I can get about 2 days use. I just with the battery guage apps an work with the Omnia....the only way we can get a good idea is to open settings and see.

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
I just updated post 3 with a couple new tweaks, please report back with results for other users, and as always, I am open to new tweaks/resources to post!!!!
