"Lock Device button won't disable...!

Greetings - and Happy Holidays, fellow Geeks!

As I attempt to learn the quirks and pluses of my Omnia, I noticed that there are two prime issues I have with the device... for one, even with the ear piece's volume set at the highest setting - the phone is uniquely quiet. I've mused about same in as yet another posting. In an effort to hear calls better (outside, for example) I opt to use the Speaker whilst on a phone call. And here lies the problem...

Like nearly all of my fellow Omnia brothers and sisters - I am caused to hit a series of buttons before I can begin a conversation - they being not just the Answer button (if receiving a call) but also the freekin' "Press the Action Key to unlock the Touch Key"... and THEN I can depress the Speaker button. I suppose it was Samsung's idea to avoid any accidental button depresses when someone is on the phone and it comes into contact with the user's face. I know the iPhone has addressed the matter by turning off the screen and associated features when the phone is held against the face (...duh...). I thought that the Omnia shared a similar feature. If this was it - it ain't worth the effort.

I know that in the Settings option, there lies a section called Buttons - where the user can "customize" his or her special (yet highly limited) selections... one of which being under the End Key. Sadly, this selection, albeit shown - is (sic) locked-out (pun intended...).

Any suggestions - this side of a virtual can opener...?!?!

I installed iconsoft phone extender. replaces the built in dialer and has much more functionality.

Which version did you use? A quick search on google brings up about 4 right aray at a variety of sites, and I would be interested in looking at them!!

I did a bit more reading, it looks like this is not just a dialer like I thought at first, and I don't want to lose my S2U2 caller functions....oh well !!

Smile Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!

Here's a quick fix regarding the audio alarm sounding off... (I've done the same on another device and it worked perfectly for me...)

Find the name and location of that particular sound file. Now, record a brief sound file of your own - of less than a second of "white noise"... nothing... and save it with the same name as that of the alarm setting. Now, move the newly created sound file to where the original is and allow it to overwrite the original.

Voila - no more alarming sound...!!!

Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!

How can I change the default directory that pictures get stored in, and when apps go to find pictures? It current points to "My Pictures" but I want them all stored to an expandable memory card. Some places I can navigate there, but some places just only look at the My Pictures directory. And I can't figure out how to save camera shots there automatically too.

Re: "Lock Device button won't disable...!

Okay, I tried this alternative to the standard dialer that came with the Omnia... and couldn't wait to drop it. Yeah, it loads, and I used the password - as supplied, and it nestled into my phone like a bear settin' up for a long winter hibernation. Trouble is - bears tend to sh*t in the cave whilst sleeping... and, despite the fact that PhoneEx does give you a large Caller ID, the thumb flicking of the supplied Contacts list is NOT as good as it should be, and - more importantly - when you end a call, the screen more than occasionally LOCKS and will not switch back to the dial pads... making any attempt to call someone else a futile effort, at best... necessitating in having to do a warm reboot. Once was enough... but, every damn time is about more than one can ask for. An expensive endeavor - sepecially if you've PAID for the program. Makes one appreciate that which was already supplied by Samsung.

Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!

Hi! New here, I just got my OMNIA in january and am having quite a major problem now, hopefully you all would be abloe to help me. This problem concerns the internal memory space, I put in around 2GB of files in it already, but the problem here is the phone registers it as I have used up all my internal memory space so I can't use the camera now and even put any files into it so is there a solution to this problem? Thanks...

well you might have to do what a lot of us have had to do....I saved everything the My storage...or the storage card...and do a hard reset...then re-install all my programs on the My storage...

and then direct ur camera to save images on the My Storage and well as any other files...there are some programs that "must" be loaded onto ur main internal memory...but for everything else put it on the "My storage"

Do you use Opera a lot? You might need to clear your internet cache. I have heard a lot of people with similar issues and it ended up being their internet cache taking up all the space.

You can see the cache and delete files by opening up File Explorer, Going into My Device---Application Data---Opera9---Cache. Select all the files in the cache folder and delete them.
