Also, go into settings\Personal\Phone....click the services tab on the bottom, click GPS + Change Settings, and change it from 911 to Location.

Then as long as you use the settings KodiakClark posted, you should be good to go!!

Re: Any hope of GPS unlock for Verizon Omnia?

This may be a stupid question...but what about my contacts...phone numbers to be extact. Won't a hard reset delete them? I can't find any info on how to save them or find the file in my phone. Any help would be great. I do not want to pay the verizon shop 10 bucks to transfer them again.

no stupid questions, we all started somewhere. Just sync your contacts to your pc with active sync, vista sync center, or if you are a mac user like me get sync mate.

When you connect just make sure you see all of your contacts in outlook or outlook express. If you do then bang contacts backed up.

Is anyone able to get the Locate Me function in Live Search to work for them? I can get it to work when I click on Track Me Using GPS, but Locate Me never works.

Also, does anyone know why Amaze cant do Local Search? It always seems to search in Denmark or something. Not a big deal, since it's free, but just curious if there was a way to get that to work

Ever since I installed GPSgate, Ive been having a lot of luck getting my GPS to connect on a daily basis. Can someone explain to me what exactly it does? I also happened to change my settings for Com 4 and Baud 4800 in the gps settings on the phone itself around the same time I installed gpsgate, so Im not sure which it was that worked but I finally am able to get GPS, and you guys know how much I was *****ing about never getting a connection lol

Re: Any hope of GPS unlock for Verizon Omnia?

Locate Me in Windows Live Search is for associating your current GPS location with places that you have saved into the program. As in if you went to Best Buy, and created a new location, then hit locate me, it should identify that you're in Best Buy. It never works, however. I went in my backyard, set it as "home" then tried "locate me" and it says it can't recognize my location.

The other option (and it's not free) is using a program like Resco to back up your contacts.
