Re: Do you think omnia 2 is losing its hype??
The Fact is with HTC there all the same phone, Same 528 Qualcomm CPU, Same 512 RAM, they've been using these parts for the last few years vx6900 vx6700, etc, just different packaging and screens. Now what Im interested in is the HD2 but good luck getting it to verizon, I still have hopes for the Omnia 2( or hopefully the jet with a keyboard), but when its time to upgrade its going to be between windows mobile and android. thats the big question.

Re: Do you think omnia 2 is losing its hype??
Just got my Samsung Omnia 2 today from Bell and transfered my unlimited data for $30 plan over to the new HSPA network and had several hours to test it out. Having owned a HTC Touch and Touch Pro I felt a little lost using the Omnia 2 but by the end of the day I found it met most of my expectations. Without doing a thorough review (there's tons of YouTube videos for that) The common consensus is that at times it can be slightly sluggish but not unresponsive. I mostly noticed this in Opera which came with version 9.5, I believe there is a version 9.7 which I will install later.
Having owned the HTC Pro I miss the tactile keyboard but the touch screen keyboard was alright. I paid close to $620 CAD with tax for it and will undoubtedly wait for the HTC HD 2 to come out. Since it looks like no one in the States has this phone yet and that only Bell carries this device it looks like I'm going to wait a very long time before I see a custom ROM. |

Re: Do you think omnia 2 is losing its hype??
I was ready to buy this phone a long time ago. And, that's the problem, I lost interest, bought something else. My Imagio can be slow at times but from the reviews I've read of the Omnia II, it can be slow also so the faster processor doesn't seem to help all that much. The other thing that I like about what I have is the worldphone. I use botht he CDMA and the GSM side so that would be a lot for me to give up. The Omnia II would have to have a lot of other stuff going for it for me to switch again at this point. So far, I haven't seen anything there that makes me want to go there.
I was really looking forward to the O2 but now, in December, my feeling this morning seeing that it has been released is "big whoop"! R |

Re: Do you think omnia 2 is losing its hype??
When the TP2 came out there was a huge runup in the forums with people waiting to get their hands on the phone. When it came out the excitement continued with people posting about ordering and waiting to receive their phones. When they arrived it just kept on going with people posting about their phones. When the Imagio was due to come out there was some of that but not near the amount as for the TP2. Now, the Omnia II is finally out and there just doesn't seem to be that high level of activity.
I think I've seen two or three posting about people actually buying this device. I think the topic of this thread is right on target. I don't think I'm the only one that got tired of waiting and just moved on. Now that the phone is here it looks like a nice phone. Except for one post here it doesn't look like its enough to get people to switch out their phones for this one. Its too bad because I think this phone isn't going to be the success that it could have been had it been more aggresively marketed and put on sale at least a month or two ago. R |

Re: Do you think omnia 2 is losing its hype??
yo homies,
i will be going out to check out the o2 tomorrow, side by side w/a droid. i played w/ a droid a couple weeks ago, and handed my hotrod omnia to the guy at the vzw store to check out, and he was freaking out over how smooth and stable it is. gizmodo savaged the o2 in a review today, mostly over the touchwiz. honestly though, who is still running the touchwiz anyway? small potatoes in my mind. i'll report back.
