Re: Do you think omnia 2 is losing its hype??
I tried out the Storm 2 today and I was very impressed. It's soooooooo much quicker and responsive than the Storm 1, it's night and day. And the new screen is very nice. I also tried out the Imagio, which I wasn't expecting much from, and I really liked it. It's honestly the most sensitive resistive screen that I've used yet, and the high res screen looked fantastic! All that said, tomorrow I'm going to be in line for the Droid...

Re: Do you think omnia 2 is losing its hype??
Looks like its dropping for Bell this month
Bell and Telus are both making quick work of forgetting their legacy CDMA networks and bringing gobs of sexy, high-profile devices to their new HSPA digs -- presumably in an effort to get folks switched over as quickly as possible and steal Rogers customers posthaste -- and the latest is Samsung's Omnia II, which will be coming to Bell in GSM form (despite the fact that Verizon is bringing a CDMA version to market). Featuring a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display, 5 megapixel cam, WinMo 6.5, and 16GB of storage on board, the phone definitely rests at or near the top of the current WinMo crop -- but the real news here is the fact that the phone has just been selected as the Official Mobile Device of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games, which we suppose means you can use it with pride while bobsledding, lugeing, curling, slaloming, or whatever other arctic sports you enjoy. Pricing hasn't been announced, but the phone will be available this month; let's just hope that Olympic endorsement doesn't drive up the MSRP, eh? |

Re: Do you think omnia 2 is losing its hype??
When the TP2 came out there was a huge runup in the forums with people waiting to get their hands on the phone. When it came out the excitement continued with people posting about ordering and waiting to receive their phones. When they arrived it just kept on going with people posting about their phones. When the Imagio was due to come out there was some of that but not near the amount as for the TP2. Now, the Omnia II is finally out and there just doesn't seem to be that high level of activity.
I think I've seen two or three posting about people actually buying this device. I think the topic of this thread is right on target. I don't think I'm the only one that got tired of waiting and just moved on. Now that the phone is here it looks like a nice phone. Except for one post here it doesn't look like its enough to get people to switch out their phones for this one. Its too bad because I think this phone isn't going to be the success that it could have been had it been more aggresively marketed and put on sale at least a month or two ago. R |

Re: Do you think omnia 2 is losing its hype??
I was the first one in my local vz store to get the omnia 2. Let me tell you there was no hype at all. Everything was calm and there werent that many people and the few that were there werent even looking at 02..but it matters that I was and I got it!!

Re: Do you think omnia 2 is losing its hype??
yo homies,
i will be going out to check out the o2 tomorrow, side by side w/a droid. i played w/ a droid a couple weeks ago, and handed my hotrod omnia to the guy at the vzw store to check out, and he was freaking out over how smooth and stable it is. gizmodo savaged the o2 in a review today, mostly over the touchwiz. honestly though, who is still running the touchwiz anyway? small potatoes in my mind. i'll report back.

Re: Do you think omnia 2 is losing its hype??
went to the vzw store and played with an o2 this afternoon, they didn't have one on display, but they did go nab one out of the backroom. so i saw it from the virgin boot, doesn't boot as fast as mine, but there is no way it could, sammy doesn't have the loving chefs that made the o1 the slick device we all love.
even with the shipped screen cover in place, this one has a better touch factor than the original omnia. it wasn't as flickable as mine, but once I got rid of the chirps and buzzes when you touched the screen, it was better. the touchwiz was nowhere as bad as gizmodo made it out to be, but they are a bunch of appletards after all. all in all, I was impressed enough to call vzw when I got home and ordered one of my own. |
