Re: Samsung Moment Maintenance Release - CL14

I stopped into my one and only local Sprint repair center on Wednesday evening and asked them to update my phone with the maintenance release. They informed me it would be at least an hour and a half and could easily be up to two hours to complete it. I won't go into detail here what I said to the guy at the counter, but I did not wait that long for a 10 minute update.

I am planning on going in Saturday at 10am, when they open, so that there is no one in front of me, and get it done quickly. We'll see...

Re: Samsung Moment Maintenance Release - CL14

i got the samsung moment a couple of weeks ago and i like it a lot, i was tired of windows mobile and flashing the phone with different roms. android is great.

now about this topic, i went today to the sprint store for the cl14 update and the store manager told me that they stop making the software update because it was causing problems to the phone, like freezing, etc. so he said to call back in a week or so to know if they are doing again the update. is it true or was it just some kind of excuse??

Re: Samsung Moment Maintenance Release - CL14

excuse. unless they aren't properly installing the update and are causing the issues themselves. in which case rather then checking back in a week, i would suggest taking it to a different store if possible.

Re: Samsung Moment Maintenance Release - CL14

Wanted to see if anyone else is having a few problems since the CL14 update. For one, anyone having problems with the agps? Before the update I just plain couldn't get signal indoors. Now, I have to turn on wireless networks and when it acquires signal, it's about a mile off, but has a consistency, i.e, when I'm at home, it always shows me in the exact place about a mile away. Fixes itself when I go outdoors though. My other problems is that I'm always losing my EvDO and going to just 1x in places where I had EvDO before. My GF has the moment as well, but without the update, and her signal type is fine as mine was before. Needless to say, I'm not letting her get the update just to save her the trouble. Also, there will be times where it just plain shows I don't have any signal, or just one bar, which is strange because she will stand next to me and have full signal. Anyone have any suggestions. I may just go to the store and tell them they broke my phone and that they need to replace it.

I don't have any suggestions for you on getting the issues resolved, sorry. But I wanted to tell you that a friend of mine just had his keyboard go out on him and he took it back for a replacement. The new Moment came with the maintenance update already installed, so you may just be stuck with it.

Either way, good luck.

whats wrong the aGPS? the results you describe sound like it is working exactly as it should. aGPS is not pin point accurate like GPS, it uses cell tower triangulation. it is probably showin you at or near the cell tower while in aGPS but when you move outside and get a GPS signal, it updates to a more accurate location.

did you do the CL14 update yourself with the files at SDX or did you get the "official" update from sprint?

I've been kinda noticing this too. My EV almost never had a D(which signifies it's inactive) was never there. Now it's there all the time and I won't get instant email updates. It'll be delayed but up to 5-10 minutes sometimes. Before the update, I would just have the inactive arrows there. Perhaps that's part of the battery saving thing? I got the update because I'm going on a road trip at the end of the month so I figured I'd update. Now I'm wishing I hadn't cause it may be causing more problems than before. Although the battery life seems to be better...

I took it to the sprint store and got the official update too..
