WM 6.5 is Official.....Yet not available - Page 31

1 hour to go for the launch event. I'm thinking the information about availability will be released shortly after that.

Here's hoping the TP2 has a date available listed as, say, 11 AM EDT

, but yes in all fairness I'm pretty much expecting February (Hopefully 2010, not 2011) with the likes of TELUS and such.

heck 6.1 was released progressively later for the titan (we remember that one?) after 6.1 was released...and if verizon dear god we waited months later

I think that article was easily objective enough to be used by an average person who may have been considering certain WinMo phones. But I don't consider WinMo phone users average people, especially these days with so many choices. I know three people with WinMo phones. Seriously. I guess that makes us a niche, no?

I think most people assumed this based on Microsofts announcement that they had partnered with carriers such as AT&T, Sprint and Verizon for a WinMo 6.5 launch on Oct 6th. Now maybe they were only referring to an announcement of upcoming phones, but I think many assumed the announcement meant 6.5 would be available on released phones and an upgrade today.

If sprint launchs the touch pro 2 in stores with the new 6.5 then there is no reason we will not get it to DL soon if this is the case.

A lot of us are thinking things like a coordinated launch, including updates for older phones (you know those ancient things we got in July) would be part of a campaign to make WinMo more relevant.

When iPhone and Blackberry gets an OS update the date is set and all the worldwide media covers it, and there is a 'buzz'. When WinMo updates, it trickles out over two years and is forgotten before there is enough market penetration to create an energy that media pays attention to.

The headlines around Toronto today? Not that there's this massive new OS refresh on Windows Phones. Nope. It's all about the fact that Bell and Telus are getting the iPhone next month.

We need to fix that.

Damn, 2010. Im glad I decided to just flash my tmobile tp2 to 6.5 instead of waiting any longer for the official version. Cause damnnnnnnnnnnnnnn thats past christmas.
