Sprint Pro vs. Vzn Pro vents!

Ok...... I made this thread soo ppl stop flaming other threads about how hidious vzn pro is and visa versa. so to start it off I wanna say that VZN does have excellent CS and pretty good coverage. But... their Pro is exactly a perfect example of vzn lock down of technology. Not only did they managed to kill the lloks of the pro but they robbed it from its ram, keyboard and crippled the gps. And not to mention disabling TF3D because it eats up the last of the ram thats left and gimped some of the software like the youtube app and IM in which is standart on these phones. Incredibly they have balls to charge 50 dollars more than anyone else! What a slap in the face to their customers! I bet they will say "its all about the network", but that is bull! Gimme the worlds best network but gimp away the technology to use it! HilaRIOUS!

Agree 110% I'd take my $30 sero plan and have a few dropped calls any day over verizon with a comparable plan that costs $110. I don't mind the few dropped calls or the less than perfect customer service. I hardly call customer care anyway. Even without a sero plan, sprint still would be $69 I believe which is still better than verizon

I believe the drop call issue is a very minimal now that sprint don't charge for roaming. Sprint has turned their customer service around 180 degrees IMO. All I gots to say for those that are buying the "Touch (not so PRO) Good luck..

I had no choice...

Sprint here in the Coachella Valley is a joke. Their coverage worsens daily and I had dropped calls all day every day. It got so bad that Hesse's office tried to call me and could not get through!

Their current map is like swiss cheese - my primary business line was seriously affected...imagine a custoemr calling up who is upset and the call drops? They think you hung up on them!

I have the HTC TP with Verizon. I love goofing with the wallpapers and themes. This will not take a theme change.

I added palringo, snap2face, and cannot change the weather to anything in my area.

It is wonderful to know what the weather is in Barcelona, London and the like...but I would like to see cities here in the Coachella Valley.

So what are my choices? Sprint: losing towers daily due to inrastructure changes and payments to the leasing company on those towers and seriously affected service; AT&T: so far, only complaints on the iPhone and the darn HTC Pro GSM has the whackiest keyboard setup I have laid eyes on...could not use it quickly and their service is only marginally better than Sprint's out here; Verizon: only service valley wide...HTC TP or the Storm? The Storm was a disaster and is still on my desk awaiting a return. Check the blackberry forums for that horrendous release.

If anyone can figure out how to make my HTC TP from Verizon work better, than I am all for it. Otherwise, it comes down to having a cool customizable phone and no service or a locked down phone and my customers can reach me daily.

Ohh... I understand. Well there is one solution if you can burn money. Just buy the Sprint pro from Sprint at full price since you wont be with Sprint and theres a method for getting VZN network on it. Search here you will find it. Theres been alot of success with it. And for all who think I am personally attacking and mocking you guys for buying the Pro from VZN.. Well.. I am not. I just attack the big red.

I travel all over the country on business & that is exactly what I experienced with sprint also (I lived with their awful service for almost two years). I switched to verizon, the service improved 1000% & I never looked back.

VZ's crippled phone selection annoys me as much as anybody however, so when I decided to switch from my HIGHLY customized 6800 to a touchpro I went out & got a sprint TP & ported ot over to my vz account. My new TP works flawlessly & I don't have to worry about garbled one sided calls, dropped disconnected calls etc etc etc etc like I had daily with sprint.

The ONLY good thing I could say about having sprint was that if I didn't feel like talking to my boss I could simply turn off the phone & tell him "I must not have been in a sprint coverage area". He won't buy that anymore. I switched my personal phone to vz, but since then my company switched 187 business phones from sprint to vz for the very same reasons.....(they gave us a heck of a deal, but sprint was still cheaper)

im out here in wendell, nc and my sprint tp works pretty much all the time when ih ad verizon i couldnt half make a call in knightdale wendell or zebulong so 80 bucks a month for No service...for get it...i made the switch and im paying less for more...verizon has good customer service yes...but best network? ill challenge that...sprints 3g network is more dependable and reliable then any other out there..and im not jus saying that Gizmodo has tested the network....lol...so i feel sorry for verizon customers...the BB storm was also another failure in my perspective but thats a whole nother topic lol haha

LOL, I'm on Verizon service & I don't need anybody "feeling sorry" for me.

I could have any service I wanted (I've had every service available at one time or another through my business, I had Sprint for two miserable years) & Verizon just flat out works for me.

I honestly don't care what it costs, the business pays for it anyway. If Sprint where even half as good as some posters claim it is, I never would have left them in the first place........(& there wouldn't be a 300 post thread on how to convert a Sprint TP to VZ service)

Re: Sprint Pro vs. Vzn Pro vents!

okay having both the verizon touch pro and the sprint touch pro I can make a pretty fair and unbiased comparison between the two models. Immediately out of the box, I saw the black finish and I liked the black. But if I were to just judge this phone based on appearance, I would definitely put this one over the sprint touch pro. The keyboard keys are bigger too and I generally like that change.

Now the problems
Out of the box it was terribly slow and buggy. it was slow even opening the start menu! and this was with the touch flo and large start menu disabled. With touchflo enabled, this phone became impossible to work with. So after 2 minutes of dealing with this, I flashed a rom (juicy 6 to be exact) and it was a memory demon. Disabling the htc phone dialer helped tremendously as well as SKtools, and I rest at a cool 75-80 percent. One problem with the phone is that the device was so cut in half, it even became impossible (after a flash and pagepool increase) to multitask. Above that, the colors are washed out, icons aren't as sharp as the sprint touch pro version. The device in itself just isn't as snappy or refined as its sprint counterpart. Its a phone I truly want to like, because it is black, the home button isn't raised like on my sprint touch pro and there is no chrome chipping. But with so many negatives with it, I cannot recommend the device.

The sprint touch pro excels the verizon touch pro in usability, color depth, keyboard design, and also battery life is much more improved on the sprint version out of the box. If you have a vzw touch pro, be ashamed because this device was cut to shreds without a real reason for the device to be so cut. Trust me, stick with sprint if we were to go on hardware alone, the sprint device outperforms the verizon device in every category. Probably the best thing about this was I got an extended battery free from verizon.

That's my review of the vzw touch pro. Much like the xv6900 I wanted to like the phone, but I was so conflicted. I couldn't like it at all

Below is why there is a 300+ post thread on how to switch print phone to verizon.
