someone in the marketing department for Microsoft needs to be fired though. their phones are truly underestimated.
before the touch pro, i had the mogul... before that, i had a simple cell phone (the katana). i have no idea how i came about adopting a phone that has windows mobile because i certainly didn't take notice to any advertising nor did any of my friends have wm phones at the time. i only came across development forums such as this months after i got my mogul. in a way, i guess i took a gamble with the mogul and am very happy i did so. if sprint advertised this phone and the diamond more, perhaps they would get more attention... They are more powerful now, have a nice interface and finally look sleek compared to past ppc phones. I could understand why they wouldn't advertise a phone that just has the simple wimbows mobile today screen, but all that's changed with touchflo2d/3d - what is sprint waiting for?
well I wouldnt worry,,
becuz if you just look at the progression,, you will see....

Winmo devices were designed for the business person.. from the first pdas.. to the pda phones...
they were boxy,, and underflashy.. strictly business....
We started a fad of making them look prettier,, and function cooler...
then the iphone comes out,, as well as some other select phones that hits the market,,
well smartphone owners but the dumbphones,,, liking the flashiness,, but when they got them they felt crippled,,

the new smartphone/pda phones now have much flashier interfaces,,, new picture and video interfaces... microsoft and the phone manufacturers are now starting to get into the idea that pda phones arent just for the businessman,,,

So I dont think they are on their way out..
I think that the next generation that comes out will blow your mind....

Re: Disgusted by iPhone users reviewing the TP with bias on CNET

why? the touch flo interface is a joke. there was to much hype not enough substance on the touch pro. they could have made it way better but failed to do it. waiting so long to release something outdated really wasnt what i had planned.

i use it as i like the windows format but a jail broken iphone beats it hands down as far as aps and touch interface. i have to say i missed the full qwerty keyboard but havent really used it much since my iphone

Re: Disgusted by iPhone users reviewing the TP with bias on CNET

I think the iphone is a half decent build but it lacks with the :
-cut and paste--****ty cam, with no video--no Voice activated calling--
--
If you want to run full internet, you're going to have to run an Intel-based architecture
--have to send it away for a couple of weeks to change the battery
--if apple doesn't like the software you're putting on the device then it will be disabled.(draconian)
--No MMS(Send or receive pictures through text messages)
--not delivering 3g signal very often(if u promise high speed, then deliver), lawsuits pending.
--No speed dial--No Java--Allow you to abbreviate in text messages
--No call recording--
In Canada, you must submit to a 3-year jail sentence to get one
no In-Call and regular Voice Recording
You can’t even customize your main screen to post notes; change around
icons--you Use an mp3 of your choice for its ringtone--
--doesn't Sort your recent INCOMING / OUTGOING calls separately
--blocks hotmail--Can’t select specific ring tone for unknown callers--
--No horizontal keyboard mode---Can’t empty email box with one click
--No flash--no tabbed browsing
--no camera flash--No optical, digital zoom--
--O, and if you unlock it, none of the official “apple store” aps will work
--$60 for a data plan that offers only 400 MB--i pay 7bucks for unlimited, as much as I can use both ways.(total calling bill is 37$...buddies iphone through rogers is 150+ a month....you do the math.
--I could go on and on about some of the ungodlike things about this phone but i would probably burn out the internet. In the end i can watch all my cable tv unbuffered to my phone in the boonies, as long as i have a dial tone(no use for driving around looking for wifi....can you hear me now?) via my computer, tether it to a laptop or computer. Gps lock in four seconds.Basically my htc is totally awesome. Do you see how much homebrew is available for these phones?...what you can do with them? Like i said the iphone is a nice build but you have to weigh the issues and the hype.

im with you and all.. but you stated a few things that arent exactly true with the i-phone.. it does have tabbed browsing, and you can change around the icons on the home screen.. but we all get the point

Re: Disgusted by iPhone users reviewing the TP with bias on CNET

Not to defend Iphone, but some stuff are wrong in above info.

I have Iphone 3G(wife), and Touch Pro(me).

Plan on ATT does blow - 450 rollover, unlimited data, no text, offpeak starts at 9PM - pay 85/mo after taxes - offers NO INSURANCE. You break it, you pay 200 for repairs.

SERO - 30/mo plan+ insurance=43 after taxes

I initially got the iphone 3g for myself, loved the screen, simple to use etc.

Worst happened on the first month of usage - 3G was horrible, couldn't even talk which no one was able to explain. It worked fine after update 2.1 though.

I gave it to mywife and came back to WM so I can continue to use Slingmobile.

SPRINT RULES.

true, but they need to start getting the word out a little better... i agree that a new breed is in the air... especially if you look at the promise of phones like the touch hd. if they don't popularize these devices, iPhones demand will be so large that it will be too late even with such amazing tech and looks. apple will just come out with something else and the band wagoners will jump on that without giving htc a look.

yes slingbox! iPhone users don't even know about slingbox mobile... i've encountered many and they all say the same thing "wait.. you're watching tv? where are you getting the feeed? what?! from your house?! your cablebox?!"
best reactions ever. i don't hate the iPhone though, i just hate these obnoxious apple fanboys that can't ever give credit where credit is due. the iPhone does what it's limited to do incredibly well, but it's still lacking in a lot of features that would anger a lot of us wm users if they were suddently stricken from our phones.

hmm can the iPhone even tether? i remember hearing that there was an app like wifirouter for the iPhone when the 3g version came out, but apple quickly took it down... have they released a commercial version through their store since then? if not, wow cause that's how i'm able to use my computer right now cause my internets down.

Re: Disgusted by iPhone users reviewing the TP with bias on CNET

They are able to use ORB to watch tv now though. I didn't go for it since I have to buy a TV Tuner that supports it.

Yes, you can tether if you jailbreak it, but it isn't as simple as WM phones.

I did jailbreak my wife's, but App store stuff are just better for now. Really no point in jailbreaking for now.

On the side note, I showed skyfire to mywife - showed off some porns lol, and she was impressed lol.

Re: Disgusted by iPhone users reviewing the TP with bias on CNET

well sprint needs to get the word out better before apple catches up and gets all these internet sites to develop apps for their phones too.. i've gone to sprint site more than ever in the last couple months. i've yet to see advertising for the touch pro/diamond on their homepage where they show different phones. how sad.
ha if you jailbreak your iPhone, it voids your warranty doesn't it... not that it's a good warranty anyway... my friend is having the hardest time getting a replacement for his iPhone right now and he's thinking of switching to the fuze.
