I had the first gen iPhone for about 5 minutes. I sold it without opening the sealed bag. I did get a chance to play around with it. The newer iPhone is running the older 3G. When they release a 3.5G model I may pick another one up. The Blackjack and Q are running 3.5G and are a lot faster on the net.
I use to work for Cingular - AT&T for about 6 years ( free cellphone line too ) and we could try any of the new phones.

i jailbroke my ipod touch when i forst got it and it worked well. i like homebrew type apps but i also like legit apps as well. with that being said if it recorded video right of the box and sent mms right out of the box as well. it is just something apple should have added from the get go.

true, but i see it as the same shlt htc and sprint pulled with the touch and its gps. its always been 'in' the phone but we had to wait for them to say we can use it.... know what i mean?

Interesting, this newspaper blogger posted 5 things apple needs to fix on the iphone 3G. http://blogs.chron.com/techblog/arch...he_iphone.html . Some of them contradict some of the points the OP made. Problems about certain functions in the phone are sluggish and Safari crashes randomly. And having to reboot the phone to keep it working smoothly. I guess the Iphone just doesn't "work". It also has its bugs.
