Why I bought an Iphone 3G

Having used the:

Treo 650,700WX,750P
Samsung Smartphone
HTC Mogul and HTC Touch

I came to the conclusion that even though I loved tinkering with many of these phones. None of them where extremely reliable or user friendly out of the box.

The HTC Touch was most definitly the best phone I have ever had, but everytime I had a nice clean rom, whether oem or custom, after a while it always came with problems.

Soft reset was always a must withi 3-4 days to keep things running. It was either a good phone or a good PDA, but never both. Lets face it. Windows Mobile isn't as stable as most high use consumers would like it to be.

I do think HTC rules the market with user friendly layouts especially on the new Diamond, but I couldn't wait.

-The Iphone is super user friendly and a lot of things just make sense. Dialing a number the feedback is actually realtime instead of a beep and a number showing up a moment later

-You can actually browse the web really well. Though Opera 9 came very very close, but again buggy.

-It's an Ipod, duhh

-Visual voicemail. Just like the Instinct.

- User interface has NO lag at all. It just works.

Things I don't like about the Iphone

- No video

- Not a great camera

- ATT is more expensive, but the coverage is much better (I'm a pilot and coverage was a big issue with Sprint)

- No external storage

- 3G is faster, but no EVDO rev. A

Re: Why I bought an Iphone 3G

i was debating the switch aswell... i think the iphone is neat but wm spoiled me with the amount of custumization it offers. i love how i can go away from ppcgeeks for a week and come back to new things to play with.
i live outside of chicago and sprints coverage is phenomenal, the best out here... if wm7 sucks when its released, i think i might get an android phone, and if that doesnt cut it, maybe THEN ill try the iphone or what ever apple has to offer.

good luck to you. Fly High Brother!

EDIT: wow i didnt even check ur name til after i posted lol

Good luck with it. I still personally think the iphone doesnt even compare, but to each his own.

Re: Why I bought an Iphone 3G

I totally agree with you, for me I do not travel a lot that's way Sprint is just fine with me, and the speed I am satisfied so far, and I think one reason that most of Sprint phones are crippled is that they just missing them up with their customization and the limitations they put in them, I hope to see one day a phone that Sprint leave as is let us enjoy the smoothness of the manufacture operating system or user interface, despite the fact that most of us will have the joy of customize it as they wish.

Having said that, I think it is your situation and needs that suggest the best phone+plan+carrier combination that best suits you.

Hey Juggs, just quoting you to give props for the incredible splash page animation on the DH rom. =D>

And to the new iPhone poster. Enjoy your phone, but it does NOT compare to the Touch with the DH rom. I have already made one iPhone owner jealous. I thought I wanted the iPhone, too, but now I am loving my Touch!!!
