Mogul vs BlackBerry Curve

Ok so to make a long story short, I am being forced to bring my mogul into the local repair center AGAIN this weekend. It will most likely end with another replacement (my 3rd already). I am wondering if it would be worth it just saying forget it and switching to a BB Curve? To be honest the only thing I am going to miss about the Mogul is the WM6 but even that, I really do not do to much customization. And the Curve has everything that I am looking for, the QWERTY keyboard, the large screen, the email ability. The only thing it lacks is, again, the WM6 and the slide out design. Even that at times gets annoying I will admit.

So I guess I am only asking your guys opinions. I have ALMOST made up my mind, but I respect the members opinions here.

Also, I have already emailed Sprint throught their website and explained my situation. What is the chance on this working? I have had the Mogul ever since it came out, so the year so the discount is ready to be used. Will Sprint value the request of a loyal customer to switch phones, a much cheaper phone must I add?

If not, any ideas?

Ok. U are asking PPC geeks. U wont get any votes for BB. Same aa true if you go to crackberry forums. U wont get a PPC vote. It all comes down to U. It's a user preference. If u ask my take on it, of course WM6 is the shiznit. It's the most superior phone device out there in terms of features and usability. U can do a lot more with WM6 than bb. but like u said, The only things u need is in bb so the ultimate decision is still urs.

Re: Mogul vs BlackBerry Curve

When I had to take my Vogue in for repair, they said it was out of warrenty (it was not) but I said **** it, Ill try the curve. Long story short, it was returned the next day and my Vogue was replaced for free. Now I just switch between my Titan and Vogue when I get bored. Wain=ting for the Dream!!!

jethro's right too though... not to insult you in anyway but if you are a simpler person the touch and mogul are waaaay to much phone for you and you won't enjoy using them.

Case in point my little brother who isn't quite as tech savvy as I am went back to using is his katana <outrage>!!!!!!!!<outrage/> after a few months of using the 6700 (Apache) because it was too complcated for him.

So its really up to you how much tech you like playing with and how much you want to do with a phone.

Blackberry = pretty slick os but not very powerful hardware which means you're not gonna be able to do what...
windows mobile = does hella customization and applications but a bit of a learning curve

treo = DEAR GOD DO NOT GET ONE WITH PALM OS. IT IS ABSOLUTE PURE UNADULTERATED TRASH. Used it for a while in high school and will never purchase ANYTHING from palm.... Ever Again. with that said if it comes with windows mobile on it and you like the form factor of it better than the mogul or the touch go with that

and that is my two cents. thanks for listening

Re: Mogul vs BlackBerry Curve

Personally I would stick with a Mogul over a Blackberry curve. The curve is slower and not nearly as open to modification.

However, when the BB 9000 comes out this fall I will probably switch.

Why? Well it really depends on what you need from your device.

For me I value ease of use in typing. The HTC keyboard isn't as easy to type on. I primarily use my device for remote email, text messaging, quick web browsing, and mapping. The blackberry excels here. Much more so than HTC devices running windows mobile. The keyboard is easier to type on, the battery life is better, and the email/texting experience is simpler. Navigation and mapping is about the same. The WM device benefits from a faster processor. And the BB's web browser isn't as good as PocketIE (which itself is pretty bad) at rendering complex sites.

However with my mogul i get a device that I can modify extensively--kudos to MS for making something so open. This is something i would _never_ be able to do with a BB. I also have access to a much larger software base than the BB.

So for me the question comes down to do i want something open and mediocre for my needs or something perfect for my needs but closed. The curve loses against the mogul because it's closed and has slower hardware. The BB 9000 however is much more attractive.

Who knows maybe there will be a slick VGA win mobile phone by then that will tip it back in WM's favor for me.

But for now I'm sticking with my mogul.
