Re: What is actually better than HTC Mogul
Folks,
as much as I agree with you on the pros and cons of having a touch versus a mogul and vice versa, I can tell you that I really like my mogul. Coming from carrying a business supplied blackberry to a Treo 700wx to a Mogul, the mogul is hands down better. As mentioned by some the keyboard is the real reason that some of us bought the thing. I found that the keyboard on the 700wx was too small and don't get me started on the Centro's keyboard. I'm looking for pics of the 800wx but have not found any. But if the keyboard is the same, it doesn't matter to me how well the OS runs. I love my keyboard. With all of the tweaking the chefs are doing on the custom roms, the memory issue isn't much of a problem for me. Using products like SPB Pocket Plus or Wktasks most programs will close properly and get your memory back. I've often thought of moving to an iPhone but with no Exchange connectivity (coming soon) and not being offered on other carriers other than AT&T it was a deal breaker. Addionally, not being able to add additional memory was not too cool. The greatest thing about having an iPhone is that I can say I have an iPhone. Future changes may make it an enterprise phone but until then, I'll stick with my iPod classic for music and movies. Although, I have 5 movies and music on my Mogul. Hee Hee. In the end, as long as there are chefs that can create better stuff than the developers at HTC and the phone functions as a phone when needed and as a pocket pc when needed and that the keyboard works well, I'll stay where I am.

Re: What is actually better than HTC Mogul
In my experiance, after having both for a few months I've come to think of it in terms of this.
1) Touch size is awesome. Compact, little, fits in a pocket, or on your side with no bulk really. 2) Screen is nice. I heard by some that the screens are the same, but to me the Touch screen seemed a little nicer. However, what I think the Mogul does better: 1) Better reception for both calls and data connection. In my experience were I live (Houston), and normally drive I experienced far less dropped calls, and streaming issues when I used my Mogul than I do now with my Touch. To me this is also far more apparent when in doors. With my Mogul, I'd experience maybe a slight data connection loss, once a week, maybe twice, while streaming. And I'm talking HOURS of streaming music or listening to Sirius. With the touch, I experience stream drop outs constantly indoors, (and often times outdoors), etc. 2) Keyboard is great, and even though I'm used to typing on the Touch's touch screen, I'm still not nearly as fast after a few months than I was within the first few days of the Mogul. 3) Wifi is nice, if you are in a bad coverage area with wifi present. Even if you dont use it much, its nice to have a backup. 4) GPS, personally I got one in the car. But it's nice to think that if your out of town, and not in your own car, you can use it. I had the Mogul, and traded it in for the Touch. To me after a few months of use, I feel I made a big mistake and requested another trade to ship the Touch back for the Mogul. |

Re: What is actually better than HTC Mogul
The Mogul is awesome. I'm a power-user business-wise, and have only had an out-of-memory message once. And I'm still on 2.09 ROM

Re: What is actually better than HTC Mogul
I use my keyboard too much to go for the Touch. For me, the Mogul is the best phone out right now. It will come down to personal preference and what you use your phone for.

I am planning on waiting for and Android phone. Sprint has been in the Open Handset Alliance so Android should be available on some Sprint phones. http://newsreleases.sprint.com/phoen...oom&ID=1072575 When I emailed HTC, also in the Open Handset Alliance, they said they do not plan to implement Android on any existing devices. I heard rumors of the HTC Dream as the first Andriod phone. It is supposed to be somewhat similar to the Mogul. It is supposed to be released in late 2008 so time will tell. |
