Re: What is actually better than HTC Mogul
While I love my mogul, I am getting rather pissy about the lack of Ram and video drivers. I'm being turned off of HTC quite a bit. However, I can't live without the hardware keyboard, I use it way too much (half the reason why i got this phone). I won't even get into how angry i am about lack of linux for this phone, but i can't complain too much because as I've worked on it, I can't quite get it to work, so i could work harder on that anyway.
But seriously, the RAM freaking blows on this phone. You'd think it'd be at least up to par with some of the other phones, but they really messed up here. If it weren't for EVDO i'd probably throw my phone through sprint's window(though it isn't their fault) and get a tilt (they have more RAM, i believe). Anyway, as for CDMA, the touch is superior as far as performance (from what I understand), but lacks the keyboard. If you get a stowaway keyboard and don't mind doing it that way, i guess there isn't much to lose. (i've contemplated this many times, but if i'm going to carry a keyboard around i might as well just carry around my handheld pc). Do they make a BT folding keyboard like the palm ones? that might be a good way to go. |

Re: What is actually better than HTC Mogul
In my experiance, after having both for a few months I've come to think of it in terms of this.
1) Touch size is awesome. Compact, little, fits in a pocket, or on your side with no bulk really. 2) Screen is nice. I heard by some that the screens are the same, but to me the Touch screen seemed a little nicer. However, what I think the Mogul does better: 1) Better reception for both calls and data connection. In my experience were I live (Houston), and normally drive I experienced far less dropped calls, and streaming issues when I used my Mogul than I do now with my Touch. To me this is also far more apparent when in doors. With my Mogul, I'd experience maybe a slight data connection loss, once a week, maybe twice, while streaming. And I'm talking HOURS of streaming music or listening to Sirius. With the touch, I experience stream drop outs constantly indoors, (and often times outdoors), etc. 2) Keyboard is great, and even though I'm used to typing on the Touch's touch screen, I'm still not nearly as fast after a few months than I was within the first few days of the Mogul. 3) Wifi is nice, if you are in a bad coverage area with wifi present. Even if you dont use it much, its nice to have a backup. 4) GPS, personally I got one in the car. But it's nice to think that if your out of town, and not in your own car, you can use it. I had the Mogul, and traded it in for the Touch. To me after a few months of use, I feel I made a big mistake and requested another trade to ship the Touch back for the Mogul. |

It actually doesn't have any phone functionality. It does SMS, but no voice. It's just a laptop basically (or a UMPC) with mobile broadband.

for now & I can say I love it but I don't like it more than my Mogul. I miss my buttons, bad. Feels like I left out of the house without my pants, on a snowy day "bad". If the touch had more buttons to touch, I wouldn't miss the Mogul but geez, now I must actually, look for everything before launching it. The stock digital keyboard is meh, Resco's Keyboard Pro 5 saved me from a great horror of the " duo keys". ![]() Long story short, the Mogul is the best of the CDMA. You want better, turn to GSM & pickup a ETEN Glofiish X800 or the QWERTY packing M800. |
