Re: Epic's 4" SAMOLED, Hummingbird, and FFC outweight the Evo Shift's software suppor

See ya in the phone comparison thread...

The EVO Shift is a bad little machine... I got it recently for my wife and she loves it... It's snappy... It has a great screen and it has great battery life. I don't have an epic so I can't compare it... But someone in the phone comparison thread should be able to.

Re: Epic 4G vs. Evo Shift 4G. Which is the phone to get? Why?

Look guys, I'm just trying to get some intelligent opinions and advice from the people that have experience with the devices that I am evaluating.

If that makes me a diva, so be it.

If it was just my personal phone, I would have just bought the Epic when it was released. But, this is a corporate decision and will effect everyone in my division.

I'm sorry if my threads have offended you and caused you grief.

Your reasoning is not what makes you a DIVA... It's your approach. Icluding the posts that have been justifiably removed.

I understand what you are looking for. You just went about it the wrong way bro. I'm not offended one bit.

well. I'm deeply offended.

that being said. there are many things to consider if this is going to be a corporate phone. on many phones there have been problems with the phone syncing up to the corporate email system in the past. i don't think i've seen anyone mention if there are issues with either phone syncing to Exchange. that should be reviewed.

also. not to be a killjoy here but why the hell would you consider such highend phones for corporate? seems to me a waste of corporate funds.

4G hotspot for wirelessly connecting our laptops to our VPN.
Large keyboard allows REAL data entry
Large screen provides space to actually view and edit documents while mobile
GPS for routing for appointments, large screen makes maps actually readable

Consumers can get the Epic for $99 now. Im sure we can buy it for even less.

You can see how the Shift falls short in the screen department, an is not enough of a departure from previous devices. However, long term software support of the Epic is a MAJOR concern and is the only reason the decision has not been made.

I agree... Those two points alone illustrate why the Blackberry RULES the business world. Great email sync, low price and not to mention GREAT battery life.

You're mistaken on the price of the Epic.

Regular price $499.99
Instant savings -$200.00
Mail-in-Rebate -$100.00
New price $199.99
Requires new line or eligible
upgrade with a 2-yr contract

that means that corporate accounts can get it for $199.99 without any rebates and shit. but not $99.

as much as i hate crackberrys, i have to agree. there email is just unmatched. and yes, definitely battery life. my boss has one and he doesn't charge for a couple of days. totally pisses me off...with my Evo, i'm typically tethered to my usb cable.

My fingers are too large for keyboard and I can't read the small screen.
If BB did device that was physically similar to the Epic, I would take it asap.
Spare batteries are cheap. I've carried one for my phone since 1992.
Android syncs with Outlook.

BB is has a low price because the product is junk that runs great software.

so you're going to make a decision based on you carrying around spare batteries? it's been my experience with typical smart-phone users that unlike us (those of us that don't mind tearing the back off the phone and switching batteries), they really don't want to do that. they don't even want to think about that.

bad bad bad bad bad.
