I think in the future, the smartphones will actually start replacing 'most' desktops, they will probably just make a docking station for it where you connect your phone in order to use a regular monitor and keyboard/mouse. Maybe that's why M$ wants to get into the game with WinMo7, they finally realized smartphones can challenge them on the desktop in the not too distant future. |

Of course, we don't knowfor sure what the clock speed is, because Apple doesn't release that info. Some people claim it is underclocked and that some bench mark tests are showing it to be slightly slower than the iPad, but I think it is still running a 1ghz chip. Re: Iphone really is the best phone
checked out my sisters iphone 4 over the holiday and was very impressed. its no where near efficient enough for me personally but it is a great gadget esp for the overwhelming majority of people who arent really "powerusers" but want smartphone capabilities. hardware was gorgeous, id be to nervous having a mostly glass phone but it looks great nonetheless. very reponsive and quick, on par with my incredible. like i said it doesnt come close to doing what i PERSONALLY need in a phone and it is far from the best for me, but it is a great product, im not to fond of apple as a compnay however. if the verizon unicorn iphone ever gets released im 100% sure i would get one for my wife.

Re: Iphone really is the best phone
ya thats one thing that i do like about the iphone.. I had the 3Gs for 3 weeks just so i can be granfatherd in to the old Data plan and swtiching from that to the 4 i felt a significant difference from the phones. Unlike windows mobile where you upgrade your phone but it still has the same slow feel to it because the OS is still the major bottle neck on the device. Although WebOS definitely is the best OS for me. as far as multi-tasking. IOS4 is also great.

Re: Iphone really is the best phone
desktops are already dated mostly used b y gamers...right now its the age of the netbook
a cellphone will never replace a pc for work..but it definetly is a good way to read email, socialize and casually surf the net... for me an iphone wont do even if its jailbroken but android little by little is heading in the direction i need...and now that epic is gonna be out with better battery life, processor, gpu and a keyboard im happy once we get our hands on a galaxy s there needs to be some benchmarks against the iphone 4 to settle things once and for all..if only the carriers hurry in releasing them already

Re: Iphone really is the best phone
why would you think iphone is more efficient?

Re: Iphone really is the best phone
The reason why iPhone can be considered more efficient is because the OS is only specifically made for ea. device vs android witch is spread across multiple phones keeps the same OS, kinda like WM. Like iOS 4 on the iPhone 4 is different then it is on the 3Gs ea. made to get the most of that device.

Re: Iphone really is the best phone
iOS works 100% streamlined with the hardware it's on. Apple can configure the OS to work well with only one type of hardware configuration, i.e. the iPhone 3GS IPSW firmware is designed only for the iPhone 3GS hardware and nothing else, so it utilizes the hardware more streamlined and efficiently.
Android is constantly being ported for new devices with new hardware, with chips made by different people. I have a very hard time believing that Google and Samsung tailer made a 2.1 port that utilizes the new Samsung chip along with the new hardware configuration of the galaxy S on Sprint and T-Mobile 100% efficiently with the time they had. Also the android multitasker is not built into the OS to converse system resources as well the iOS one (although the flaw with the iOS one is that it doesn't work till the app is updated to work with iOS4). I love android and the way and the speed that it does get ported to every device. I like the Nexus One more than iPhone although I do still like the iPhone for what it can do, and with numbers I think it will outbench the Epic and the Vibrant and I would rather have 960 X 640 resolution as well, although the super amoled does look sweet. |
