The main differance isthe 800 is CDMA & the 850 is GSM.

OK....here is a good argument for my ignorance....what does that mean in the long-run? Does that mean they are the same devices to be used in different markets/carriers, or something more?

EDIT: Is there a mute switch like on past models? I haven't seen mention of it yet!!

GSM and CDMA are completely different networks. So yeah, they can only be used on their respective carriers. There usually aren't any huge differences between the phones other than that.

Sprint Treo 800w ETA July 13
Thanks to a leaked inventory sheet (below) it appears that the Sprint Treo 800w will indeed become available to the general public on Saturday, July 13 instead of the previously rumoured later date of July 22 and Sprint enterprise customers can expect to get their hands on one as early as Wednesday, July 9.

Not all that bad when you factor in all the incentives and discounts the carriers will be sure to throw in there. I bet if you wait for the right time, you can nab this beauty anywhere from $200 - $300 (pretty acceptable range to me for all this device is proclaimed to be capable of)!!
