I doubt our 8/30 date is still in the cards.. VZ changed their date from this month to 9/13 and I'm sure we'll see a delay just like them.

I've been holding out on the 6800 because of the 800w.. I'm planning on getting a 6800 for 288$ from SERO and just enjoying it for now. When the 800w comes out then I'll worry about the upgrade. I really like the 320x240 screen on the 6800 but it's crippled in comparison to the 800w or the upcoming ATT HTC device..

It's a tough time to be in the market.

Where did 8/30 come from I cant find any information on this.

One source was at SU where someone reported it on an upcoming list for Sprint. They also mentioned the RAZR 2, which we now know was accurate.

There were two other people at TC who said they say the SKU's for the Treo 800.

I doubt about the date myself, but some info is better than none.

While knowing the new Treo is going to be abolsutely amazing, is it safe to say that most of the applications and software generally used for the Treo will be compatible with the new device?? For example, I see myself incapable of using my treo without WeatherPanel, Spb Mobile, and so on. Any info?

I have no reason to believe that they wont' work. All that'll change is they might be slightly smaller, but not by much. The graphics will just be tighter and smoother working.

Great, what a relief. I used to use my treo for almost a year without any special programs. Now after fishing this site everyday, I am addicted to upgrading. Thanks Mal.

I can't wait for this. My Windows Mobile history has been complicated. The last chapter was a Mogul which I am returning today after a hellish 25 days of obsessively dealing with a million stupid problems. I have gone back to PalmOS with a Treo 755p, but it's very difficult to go back to non-multitasking, hacky, unstable PalmOS after being exposed to the good parts of WM devices - multitasking, real memory handling, full apps, real system APIs, etc.

What I've realized is that the Treos are the only WM phone devices that work the way I think they should - easy dialing, fast data entry, usable keylock, ample memory, tactile muting/volume, etc., but I don't want to go back to a 700wx form factor.

I'm holding on to my 755p as my final PalmOS device and will jump on the 800w provided that it mantains the same concepts as previous WM Treos.

just to give you a quick shout that if someone wants to look at and feel the real taste of Gandolf 800w they can if they are in Wash D.C Metro Area the phone would be available to see at one the local sprint store which is located in Tysons Corner, Va but the phone is not the final version it is still running beta tester stuff on it......
