just hold the ok button when your on the today screen and the task manager opens and close all the programs you want closed.

Re: Just got my 800w/problems already

I just got my "free, swap for BT-defective Mogul" 800w from Sprint. Have been using Touch for last 6 months. 800w BT not nearly as good as my Touch or my Razr2. First call to my wife using BT on 800w got this comment: "doesn't sound nearly as good as your old phone (Touch)".

Will play with the 800w awhile. Random thoughts so far:

Generally like the form factor, but a bit heavier and thicker than it should be, IMO. Battery life weak. BT average or worse. Stylus so flexible it's hard to use. Fast wrt scrolling and app switching. Lots of memory. Prefer 6.1 SMS to Palm SMS. Can't have different screen brightness settings for battery and AC power. Hard and soft resets require ridiculous battery removals! Better off-axis screen viewing than Touch. When BT pairing with my car, it identifies itself with Owner Name, not Device Name. IR port a waste of space and resources in 2008.

Thinking it may soon go on eBay as "almost new"....

1 - nice and fast
2 - yes
3 - can't compare to 700w, but mediocre compared to Touch. 800w needs a bigger battery.
4 - YES - fast!
5 - don't know - talk to Sprint.
6 - works fine, but I prefer 6.1 threaded SMS to Palm's version. Personal taste.
7 - haven't tried
8 - yes, so far

Re: Just got my 800w/problems already

The X button is actually the OK button. If you hold it for two seconds it actually opens up the task manager and you can shut down from there.

When my 6700 died I got the 700wx because it was the only WM phone at the time. With the 700wx I was dissapointed that VC/BT did not work. It will intiate but you can not use the BT headset to state your command(s) to the phone. You had to use the phone mic and speaker. I did some digging into this and all along every site said that it was due to the BT chipset that was used in the 700wx.

I have been waiting for the 800w to come out becasue this issue was suppose to be fixed with 800w.

So ared you telling me that VC/BT does not work on the 800w either? If this is correct, then that just may be a deal breaker for me.

This is the deal killer for me- is this a known issue that will be addressed or is it just the way Palm devices work?
I know this is an older thread, but since I didn't see the answer addressed for you, I thought it might be a good time to remind everyone that there are two software updates available from Palm, and they can both be done OTA (over-the-air).

Voice dialing over bluetooth http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...oth/index.html

USB and battery charging update http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...usb/index.html
